I'd call The Dark Tower series his take on a dark fantasy since LOTR was one of several inspirations for his writing them.
I know, I was just joking! :) There are definitely fantasy elements to TDT, especially in the later books. But it's a weird hybrid of fantasy and western, but I'd say its much closer to a western than say LOTR. Honestly though, Steve should purchase a town in the mid-west and turn it into Calla-Bryn-Sturgis!

Hot springs maybe, bungee jumping no effing way! The only other thing on my "must see" list so far is Hobbiton--my one big geek wish--but would not force you to come along for that either.
Don't let DJ catch you wearing these... :)

Moderator I found an interview from Steve a few years ago saying that at some point he needs to edit TDT novels, in particular the later ones. Know anything about this?
He'd planned to do that to edit the inconsistencies from having written it over such a long span of time and that the first four volumes had not been copyedited. He's probably not going to get back to that anytime soon, if at all, though, as he's moved on to other projects.

Absolutely. I'd rather be an elf. :)

I have a bit of a geeky LOTR tale, myself. In my senior year of high school they decided to go with the theme of Lothlórien for the prom. Being a big fan of Tolkien I volunteered to help with the decorations and artwork. I think several on the prom committee had heart attacks when I volunteered. I ended up doing most of the painted artwork for the prom.

Man, I'm sure Hugo Weaving enjoyed that.
