If he had been from Sampson, I'm pretty sure I could have named him without reading the article!! :biggrin2:
Now I know where you are...

OK had already figured it out but wanted to be dramatic. ;;D

Glad you told ghost19 there were two Carolinas...

Now if we could get everybody in our state to understand the NC zoo is not in AsheVILLE!!!

You've heard of Sampson? I'm impressed!! (I'm not in Sampson County, though) There's a small community called Sampson in the area, and it's full of ruffians.

Every year, someone will hear me say that I'm a Carolina fan and ask me which one.....
I always reply "There ain't but one" ;;D

If I had a nickel for every time someone asked me how far it is to the Asheville Zoo, I'd be a rich woman.

My children have played sports from Murphy to Manteo...

Anyway if it is in the Tarheel state I have probably been through it or by it.

On a side note something I always thought was funny about a few Randolph/Guilford county town names. If you doubt the following you can Google it.

Beginning in southern Randolph up to southern Guilford there are three communities with the following names: Whynot, Erect and Climax???

Weird I know.

They are located approximately 50 miles apart from first to last.

My question is what the heck were these people riding in?

I actually won an 7th grade American history competition by knowing the capital of North Carolina way back when. Me and this other kid were the only ones left and he said “Columbia”. I knew he was wrong right off the bat, I’d studied all the state capitals so I won with “Raleigh”. Won a trip to the district finals where I....uh....didn’t exactly shine...lol

Think closer to Appalachian State.....walking distance, in fact. My Grandparents lived just off the Parkway on Sampson Road when I was growing up....just at the beginning of it. The folks down in Sampson are known for being extremely clannish and downright mean. If they didn't know you, it probably wasn't a good idea to drive down that particular hollar in the dark. They are also not the brightest crayons in the box, which has provided for much amusement and entertainment through the years......still does. Somewhere here, there is a story about a boat being abandoned on the Parkway. I knew immediately who it was and the story my uncle told me made me laugh until I peed a little.

I've been through all three places at one time or another. We always laugh when we see the road signs.

I'm not so concerned what they were riding in as what they were smoking!!!!

I'm in Boone. Polkton is about 3 hours, Forest City is about 2 hours, and Lake Lure is about 2 hours away.

Nice job picking a unique name like Middle Son. ;;D

I am a middle son as well! And an oldest son, too! SwiftDogs are complex creatures........

Never been to either of the Carolinas. Been to Florida, though. Let's just say I'll be staying up north! Don't call me a Yankee, though! My Red Sox infused DNA will force me to hurt someone :highly_amused:
