Yes, twas me. If anyone can add to the list, I'd love it. My favorite reads are short stories. And my favorite movies are anthology types, think: Magnolia, Crash, Love Actually, Pulp Fiction - you know, they're kind of entwined stories that could stand alone. I know there's more, I just can't remember.
You may like the book Olive Kitteridge by Elizabeth Strout. It is a novel told in intersecting and independent short stories. It is set in Maine. It won the Pulitzer.

Did you see her in 'Almost Famous'?

Just Great.

I did and I would have to say that it was her best role so far. In Alex and Emma she just did not 'work' - even the part where she starts crying and says she dropped his manuscript etc. seemed fake.

It is a shame because the movie was directed by Rob Reiner and most of his stuff is pretty good!

From Wikipedia:

"The film was widely panned by critics; Rotten Tomatoes gave it an 11% positive rating by calling it "a dull and unfunny comedy where the leads fail to generate any sparks." Alex & Emma was a flop, grossing just over US$15 million at the box office".

It's a shame - I wanted to like this movie but I couldn't.

Three Days Of The Condor (1975) Robert Redford - Faye Dunaway

The other half of the cheap two-fer blu-ray I bought that also had All The President's Men.

This is a good conspiracy thriller with one major flaw. Was it really necessary for the kidnap victim to fall in love with her captor? It was so forced and unrealistic (but Hollywood must have a love story in every single freaking movie). Take that aspect out of this flick and it's pretty good. I was surprised that Hal Holbrook wasn't in this movie. I thought he was in every 70s conspiracy movie made. ;-D

Remembered this while watching Good Will Hunting last night and thought I would post it. A bittersweet scene - three people in this clip have passed on (Robin Williams, Jack Lemmon and Walter Matthau).

On a brighter note, even though Damon and Affleck have had great success in Hollywood, I wonder if they've ever been happier in their careers than they were here...

I remember seeing those! Liked 'em both. Didn't think either one were amazing. I remember the Faye Dunaway character getting indignant about the use of the phrase "intelligence community." I think.

1975 was the year that Redford and Dunaway were the 'It' people, so they were cast in this film and the romantic storyline was thrown in so that the world could see these two most beautiful people make out.

I watched a mockumentary called What We Do in the Shadows, about a film crew that is granted permission to record four vampires living in a house together. It started off slow but turned out to be hilarious, and even some of the scenes would've been legitimately scary had it not been a comedy.

I would highly recommend this film to anyone that's a fan of vampires or Flight of the Concords. It's written, directed, and starring Jemaine Clement, and Rhys Darby (Murray) makes a couple of appearances.
