Hair -- Like Godspell. For the times, I'm sure it was fresh, but not my cup o' tea. Decent music.

Now, the part I have found the most well done in this was when they arrest Jesus. They are marching him through the desert and people are thrusting at him asking questions , all sing songy, but very much like the media or paparazzi in today's world.HOLY GOOD GOD. Everyone was on drugs to think Jesus Christ Superstar was a great movie.
Yes, I see the choreography is amazing. Some iconic songs came from the production. And I do see it is commentary on the culture, which is interesting. But all this damn singing....
Where's a good golden calf when you need one?
Edited to add: I DO think this would have been great on the stage. That would have been a terrific spectacle and energizing. But as a movie? I'll sell it to you for 30 pieces of gold.
My mom loves that movie! (She was so torqued off when Crowe didn't win the Oscar for that role!) Think I bought her the DVD quite a few years ago. It might be time for me to do a re-watch.I stayed up way late last night watching A Beautiful Mind. I loved it. It was heartbreaking, but redeeming in the end. Russell Crow really did some fine acting.
You really don't see a lot of the invaders, but you do get to see the Queen and she is nasty!Kingricefan, I am somewhat interested in the Independence Day sequel, but I have to say -- the first film is one of the worst pictures I have ever seen. Obviously I was out of step with the marketplace at the time, but it was, and is, awful. Let me ask -- is there an invasion scene with soldier aliens? That would make me want to see it (again, somewhat).
Skimom -- The Dark Knight was always overrated to me; I was bored to death (now, for anyone who by any chance knows the HBO series Bored to Death, let me say I do love that!). I didn't think the Joker was that great of a character. I never saw the film after that one.
Do1, I too enjoyed Jurassic World (that's funny about the catchphrase). Now, here is the film I recently saw, and here is its connection to World.
I read a recent interview with Steven Spielberg in which he stated that the guy who got the director job for World would not have been hired had his film Safety Not Guaranteed ended in a certain way (as Spielberg said, the film could have ended in basically one of two directions). That got me curious, so I rented the movie. Before I watched it, I remember thinking that Spielberg seemed a bit arrogant in saying that the director's employability would be determined by the ending. As the plot unfolded, I started to agree with him -- he was right, if it went that other way, I probably wouldn't have hired him either (I think in the interview it was said that a short version of the concept did do it the other way, but I'm not sure if that memory is correct or not). What I would like to know is if Spielberg simply wouldn't have given the guy the job simply because he would have been angry that his personal experience with the film was spoiled if it had gone that one way, or if he felt that the director's sensibility wouldn't have possessed the intrinsic value that the World project specifically needed on a fundamental basis.
I enjoyed Guaranteed for the most part, and I'm glad the ending exists as it is. I think the film suffers a bit from the casting choices and its budget, but I do think that Mark Duplass did a great job; he's a really good, likeable actor (those who have seen the HBO series Togetherness will know what I mean).
But, Laws - every time I see that movie, I want to smack the sweetness out of her. Wake up!
yeesh.
He should have! I was totally buying the conspiracy thing. Great set up there. Of course now I want to read the book.My mom loves that movie! I am totally psyched about this movie!! I'm hoping to see it at the drive in very soon! You really don't see a lot of the invaders, but you do get to see the Queen and she is nasty!
Watched Mulholland Drive again. Some is real time stuff, and some I still think it is Diane/Betty's dying brain short circuiting with all those weird images.
I watched this for the first time 3 weeks ago. I think Kingricefan recommended it. There is one scene early on that made me jump, wasn't expecting. Honestly, I was really confused. I'm waiting for Blue Velvet to come on cable, never seen that one, either.Watched Mulholland Drive again. Really liked Blue Velvet - watched it several times, but it's been many years. Mulholland Drive was confusing to me also.
