Re-watched Dolores Claiborne the other day. Seems as if a lot of the older SK adaptations stick closer to the books for the most part. There were some significant changes, but they didn't deviate from the story completely. I liked the ending of the book much more than the one in the movie. And just to add...I adore Kathy Bates. :love_heart:

The entire book is nothing more than Delores sitting at a table and talking. They had to open up the story in order to make it filmable- no one would (well, I probably would as I love Bates!) go to a movie just to see Kathy Bates talk to the camera in a down East accent for two hours. This movie is a hidden gem- it hits all of the right notes and Bates is amazing!

Cutting out the existence of Dolores' two sons was a smart move, I thought.

Not the last movie I watched, but the best I've seen in a while, is Split.
I'm a huge fan of M. Night to begin with, so I was so excited since the first previews came out.

This one scared the s**t out of me.
I've thought for some time now that my son has at least 2 different personalities (though his only official diagnosis is autism) so this hit home.

Sometimes, when I sense a meltdown is coming, I'll say to my husband
"beware, the Horde".

Also, I loved the ending and was shocked that I hadn't seen any spoilers before I got to watch the film (since I had to wait to see it until it was on Amazon).

Thunderbolt and Lightfoot (1974) Clint Eastwood, Jeff Bridges - Directed by Michael Cimino

Interesting & good buddy crime flick. It's much more character oriented than most of these kinds of movies so the movie holds up very well for it's age.

On a side note - like many movies of the 60's and 70's this movie contains a tasteless rape joke (just one quick scene). It's hard to understand what we found so funny about this subject back then and when these jokes pop up in old movies or old tv shows, it always makes me cringe.

Wonder Woman - Solid movie with a weak third act. The first two were quite entertaining.

So the average rating on the Rotten Tomatoes of 76% is spot on.

Chris Pine was the standout and as my friend remarked, he really seemed like a young, and better, William Shatner in this one.

Watched the movie Starter for 10 (2007) last night. Checked the DVD out from the library. Tom Hanks produced it so I had my hopes set a bit too high. Didn't like it much. There was an actress (Alice Eve) who looked a lot like a young Christie Brinkley.
That's one I really like. Maybe it's because I was the same age as Brian in the film (first year of college in 1985). He seemed familiar to me-lol. A book that I quite liked, too. :)

Passengers. Horribly mismarketed as a romantic com. It was a better than I expected. The end was a little formulaic but wasn't terrible. Chris Pratt sold it for me, and not because he's 'cute' (totally not my type--lol). He has an earnestness and 'solid citizen' vibe that reminds me of someone like Jimmy Stewart, a long time favorite.
