Watched heartburn today for the first time, I missed it back in the 80s, it was okay, a bit of a downer. But it reminds you what good actors Meryl Streep and Jack Nicholson are, she does her part so effortlessly, and Jack is good as a cold, distant cheater.. but mainly it reminds me of Carly Simon..
I haven't thought about Heartburn in years. Can't help but think it's about digestive disorders at first glance from the title. Heartburn was powerful and hard hitting and so was that song, Coming Around Again by Carly Simon. What was line Meryl Streep had about the clap and her toddler stated to applaud?

Have you seen Truly, Madly, Deeply?
edit: what the? I had a whole nother paragraph and disappeared it. Sorry!! The jist: I need to watch Galaxy Quest, and I'm about the watch the vampire mock.

I loved that movie! Nora Ephron wrote it (it was a book first - but I read it after I saw the movie). Jack Nicholson is a great scoundrel. One of my most favorite movies is Terms of Endearment (have you seen it?) - he was so perfectly horrible and endearing. Something I love to say is from that movie ("I'd rather stick needles in my eyes")
Yes I like it but look out tear ducts.. my favorite part was Jack leaving at the airport, and she stops him and he gives that great Jack smile and says almost got away clean.. and love you too,kid..

I just saw your comment way back there!

Sounds like it might be kind of a "mockumentary" - and I love those!
Best in Show, Drop Dead Beautiful, Waiting for Guffman, and the hair stylist one - I can't remember the name! But it had Snape (RIP) in it. I seriously loved Alan Rickman.
If you like mockumentaries and don't mind subtitles, try Vampires. Vampires (2010) - IMDb It's a Belgian movie, where a camera crew is following a Belgian vampire family around. It made me laugh!

Okay, can anyone tell me what this "movie" is called?

It's an old black and white. The scene I remember is a woman who has had a killer's hands/arms sewn to hers and they have a mind of their own. The woman is very aware that these hands want to kill and she fights them. In one scene, she is hugging a man and there are a pair of scissors on the table and these deadly hands grab them and I do believe plunge them into the back of the hugger.

No, this is not The Hands of Orlac. No, this is not Mad Love. It could be an episode of the Twilight Zone, Alfred Hitchcock, One Step Beyond or a standalone movie--

Does this sound familiar to anyone?

I picked up a suggested movie on here - and it's free on Amazon Prime : What We Do in the Shadows (skimom2 and Neesy ). I'm going to watch that tonight!

Yesterday I watched 3 Billboards Outside Ebbing Missouri - and wow! 5 stars, 100% YAY from me. It was intense and disturbing and just when you start hating a character their humanity breaks through. I've googled the Writer/Director Martin McDonagh
swoon, hunky, talented,

and plan on watching more of his stuff - he's got quite a few I've heard some buzz about: In Bruges, Seven Psychopaths, - I don't know why I've never watched any of his other films, but now I surely will.

I watched The Florida Project last Sunday - it was intriguing, if a little boring - I like Willem Dafoe - and he was great in it. I'll be looking for more by Sean Baker too

This week is the Dan Rather interview with Robert Plant - catch it if you can: Tuesday night on Axis.
I LOVE In Bruges and Seven Psychopaths!I had no idea he was the guy who did 3 Billboards! My husband has wanted to see that since it came out, but it never came here. I'll be looking for it streaming.

This one has a man with new killer hands. Probably not yours, bc it’s not a lady. Hands of a Stranger
Hands of a Stranger (1962) - IMDb
Oops, just saw this was a remake of The Hands of Orlac. Apologies.

No worries, and thanks for responding. it could be a remake of Orlac and I'm just not remembering it, but yes, mine was a lady with new hands, and they always had this ghostly cast to them when they were doing bad things.

Wow, thank you so much for even trying. This is something I saw as a kid, and it has stayed with me for years, just that one scene. I throw it out every now and then in hopes the right person sees my question and remembers it too.

I appreciate your efforts!

Sounds like the female Ash from Evil Dead. :)

But no, it doesn't ring a bell. I've looked around but can't find anything about it. There are several films about it, but none seem to fit the description. Maybe if there's more details you can remember about it.
There's Hands of a Stranger (1962), but it's about a concert pianist.

Here are some more: THE B-MOVIE CATECHISM: THE B-LIST: 11 MOVIES FEATURING EVIL SEVERED HANDS

I'll check that list and see if something stands out. That is the only scene I can remember. Thank you for taking your time to try to find something. I will probably die never knowing. That drives me batsh*t at the thought of not knowing!

THank you again. Some day, somebody is going to know. They will recognize it and will be able to tell me. Yes, it must have been like a scene inserted into some movie? Maybe in the movie itself the characters were watching a movie and this was it, a make believe movie for the movie. Does that make sense?

I never remember just loose scenes. Maybe only from kid's programmes long ago, but not from a later age.

I am an avid, almost OCD watcher of Twilight Zone, Alfred Hitchcock, and Alcoa Presents One Step Beyond. The only episode I can think of where a woman attacks a man with a scissors is not in black and white, it's color, they were her original arms and hands, no transplant, and it was a Night Gallery with Alex Cord and the beautiful Joanna Pettet The episode was called “Keep in Touch—We’ll Think of Something,”

Pianist Erik Sutton (Alex Cord) visits a police station to report his car stolen by a female hitchhiker whom he picked up at 3:00 a.m., saying that he got out of the car to buy an early morning newspaper.

Three days later his car has been recovered but shortly thereafter, Sutton returns to the police to make the same report—and that his car has again been stolen by the same woman who this time pistol whipped him, thus the injury to his forehead.

He goes through a book of police mug shots, and not finding her, he asks if an artist can make a sketch based on his description. When the sketch of a very attractive woman’s face is near-completion, the Sergeant (Richard O’Brien) comments with a knowing look, “I know why you picked her up.”

The sketch leads to the woman, Claire Foster, married and well-to-do (Joanna Pettet, Cord’s real-life wife at the time), being picked up and she obviously matches the sketch. The police, however, have found no other fingerprints besides Sutton’s on his car’s steering wheel, so they must release her and hope that she doesn’t press charges for false arrest.

She is strangely understanding of the situation and not only does she not want to press charges against Sutton, but she agrees to meet him in a nearby bar.

“You’re the one I’ve been looking for ever since I’ve been in college,” Sutton tells Claire. He has memories of unspoken encounters with her in his dreams. He’s been tormented in his life with his main source of hope being her in his dreams and his belief that they are meant to be together, if only he can find her in real life, which is why he created the story of her stealing his car.

Claire shares with Sutton that her husband also has recurring dreams—dreams of a man with a long scar across his hand who comes into his bedroom and strangles him while he’s sleeping. She grabs Sutton’s hands to examine but there's no scar.

There's more but you'll just have to see the episode. Kidding! I'll tell you the rest here if you want. This is just a ridiculously long post. Whew! Or you can check here: https://www.google.com/amp/s/davidjuhl.wordpress.com/2014/01/27/night-gallery-story-dont-worry-well-think-of-something-reviewed-here/amp/

Great episode. Stuck with me. But I don't think it's what you're looking for, D.J.

I think I might have seen that back in the 90s. I like British dramas/comedies :adoration:
