The Jungle Book.

Bottom line, we liked it a lot. It wasn't the previous Disney cartoon, which is good, because I didn't care much for that. This was the jungle and environment that I'd envisioned when, as a youngster, I read Kipling's stories. No, it didn't follow the plot of the original storyline, but it was true to the spirit. The animators did a stellar job with Shere Khan.

When I'd heard that songs had carried over from the previous cartoon, I rolled my eyes, but I have to say, they worked them in pretty nicely. Didn't bother me a bit.

Warning: Not a movie for the real little ones. It is gritty and brutal in parts, and the suspense points would be scary for tykes. Heck, Grandma and I were pretty tense at times.

You don't like the original? Ye gads, Louie Prima? George Sanders? C'mon, Gramps!

The Life and Times of Judge Roy Bean (1972). John Huston movie from the seventies. Pretty good. Kinda silly. I think everyone was drunk when they made this'n. Paul Newman musta had some nads yellin at that bear like that. Wow. Victoria Principal lookin about too good to eat. Ned Beatty in his prime. Don't watch unless you have some liquor close by.

That pretty much exactly reflects my thoughts when I saw the trailer for the movie in 1972. Thank you for affirming that 44-year-old impression. Never watched it.

I did enjoy seeing this picture in a local law office.

I remember seeing that as a kid, at the drive-in with the 'rents. Bored me then, but I guess at 5 I wasn't the target audience--lol

Oh boy oh boy! It's almost like X-mas this morning, as my DVR worked overtime whilst I slept, recording not just one, but my TWO favorite Hammer vampire flicks. The Vampire Circus (1972) and The Vampire Lovers (1970). Somebody out there likes me! And both in HD, not that grainy, faded video I watched them on as a kid.

Jealous? You should be.

Just recently been introduced to the Batman movies by the other half. The Dark Knight -amazeballs. Heath Ledger ? Amazing - my most favouritist villain ever. Totally made that part his own and no one could have done a better job. Epic movie and epic performance. Oh yeah and we had date night and saw Batman vs Superman in 3D - blew me away !! Looking forward to the justice league movies due out next year

Been introduced to the superman movies as well -Man of Steel ? My stars, dont get me started on what an epic failure (IMO) that was.................

Thanks - I will make a point of going to see this one now. Was it regular or 3D?

I love this movie. The artistic presence of it all. The cinematography is grand scale and the props and costuming are terrific. Plus I loved how she set modern music to parts of the movie. And when she did that, it just fit perfect.

I arrived a little late to the party. I viewed most of Wes Andedson's films in the past two years. I understand that he has a niche audience and much of what he does is highly styled and fanciful but his strengths seem to outweigh his creative hangups. He is refreshing and, in my opinion, an interesting storyteller in modern cinema. There is something very childlike about his movie making and its lack of malice. Moonrise Kingdom is still my favorite.

I loved this one. A 17 year old boy loses his mom to a drug overdose and is left alone and not sure what to do. So he calls his grandmother to see if he can live with her. He hasn't seen his grandmother for years because his mom has kept him away from her. The reason his mom has kept him away is because Grandma is part of a crime family with her sons. So this innocent boy goes to live with his crime family relatives while the police are trying to bring them down and gets caught up in the events.
