When I was a kid and got something for Christmas that needed batteries and didn't have any, I had to wait until the 26th because there was no place to buy batteries on Christmas day. There was nothing open on the big holidays back then.
I remember those days....There was nothing open, grocery stores, convenience stores, nothing. Hardly even any traffic at all. Ahhh, I'm so damn old...lol

I sat in line for hours on Blitz Friday at Walmart for my kid. She had to work and she REALLY wanted a new hi-def tv to use as a monitor -- she's a gamer. It wasn't so bad. But I live in a very small area, too. I don't think I'd do it in a bigger city.

I'll never venture out on Thanksgiving or Black Friday. I shop through the year when an item calls to me for a special person, but most are hand made. Working on a "family" holiday just isn't right.

That's how I do as well. Each gift has a very special meaning. Nobody ever gets it right for me . . .except you Lady Spidey.

If you open it, they will come. Except me, cause I don't shop unless it's necessary. I love a good sale, but I hate fighting crowds cause it makes me angry and impatient, so I generally just save for what I need and if I can save a few bucks, fine. It's supposed to be such a happy time of year, but now it just seems to be make money, spend money, get deals, and so on. Where is the fun and the thought that used to go into this time of year? Oh, Lord I am getting so old. I have officially turned into my mother.

Okay - I think this is the wrong thread but it is somewhat related. I told a girl at work that someone got trampled to death in the States on Black Friday. I said he was only 34 years old. She gave me a weird look and said "really?" So I went on Google to look this up and it turns out it happened five years ago in 2008! (Are we in a time warp here at the SKMB?) cuz I could have sworn there was a thread on this and of course I just took it at face value?? :grey::umm:
