"Turn it off or I'll give you a reason to cry." Was a common statement of my (much older) stepsister if I or her two children were being whiny little brats. It shut us up in no time!
"Was gonna doesn't count." Was a favorite of my mom's. It was meant for situations where I had been told to do something, hadn't done it, and had the response of, "I was gonna..."
And when I hit my teenage years, I came up with a phrase of my own; "You raised me." Said with the perfect amounts of flippant sarcasm, this was a phrase guaranteed to drive my mother crazy whenever she complained about how I'd turned out. I was such a good child.....
