I am laughing so hard at this!!
Thanks for forgiving me for butchering the title LOL! I meant to write, You picked a FINE Time to Leave Me Lucille. When in fact the title is simply, Lucille. I'm my mama's girl alright.

Oh yeah, here's another one, she told a friend of mine when my friend asked her what bands she liked, that she really liked those Hauling Oats boys.

Seeing Stephen King's Twitter post about having thought KC and the Sunshine Band's lyric "Keep it comin' love" was "Keep it common law" for years reminded me that up until a week ago, I thought Marshall Tucker Band was singing "Purty little love song" when all these years they were singing "Heard it in a love song".

What lyrics have you misheard?......how long did it take to realize you were wrong?

Thanks for bringing this one back. It brings a smile to my face, which is sorely needed this time of year.

The Cranberries had a song with the lyrics "Salvation is free." For years I heard it as "Starvation is free" which is a truism but a somewhat less inspirational message. Siouxsie and the Banshees
did a cover of what I later learned was a Beatles song called "Dear Prudence". It always sound like "Dear Brutus" to me and thought it was some kind of clever take off on the Roman who assassinated Caesar. It gave the song a whole different meaning to say the least.

Unless that was meant facetiously, it's not me who loves Bob Dylan. In fact, quite the opposite. Great lyrics, but let somebody else sing them, pleeeeeeeease. :smile2:

Hi! Yes, ma'am, I was playing with you. He seems like a nice person but have mercy that singing voice. But we both do love

(I really do enjoy this young man. Him singing this song just makes me happy. I sing and dance. )

Later!

Good evening.

Rather than start another thread..

Anyone know what eggcorn means?

Sir Bev Vincent?

Okay. I'll tell you what eggcorn means

egg·corn
ˈeɡkôrn/
noun
  1. a word or phrase that results from a mishearing or misinterpretation of another, an element of the original being substituted for one that sounds very similar or identical (e.g. tow the line instead of toe the line ).

Here is an example of an eggcorn

"all intensive purposes" when you mean "all intents and purposes."

=D

Do you wonderful members have an eggcorn? Please share.

(And may the heavens help us =D don't EVEN ask what oronyms are.)

Thank you!

I see “beckon call” instead of “beck and call,” which is correct.
