My morning

So, this was my morning:

We all know I live in LA. Well, what you probably don't know is that my work is in the Valley (yes, the Valley, as in "Valley Girls"), which is 35 miles from my house. There are two problems with that - LA traffic and the fact that there are only two routes to the Valley from my house.

So, some guy decided to take a walk on the 405 today, the busiest freeway in the WORLD (look it up), and he got smashed.

This causes my normal 45 minute to one hour commute into work to be THREE hours.

But to make matters worse, they had all lanes but one closed down to investigate, which means that I had plenty of time to stare at the dead guy that was STILL on the freeway.

I have had a very traumatizing morning.

Did they even attempt to block the view of the dead guy to passing motorists? A couple of years ago I was in a similar traffic jam, and where the accident was they had positioned the ambulances so that you had to really be trying to look in order to see whatever mess there was... I didn't look but later found out it was a motorcycle vs. an SUV. I'm sure it wasn't a pretty sight.

He was covered but I could still see the shape of him.

They had a line of police cars blocking him kind of, but there was a lot of, um, mess around him that I assume they were investigating so they couldn't park too close to him, which gave us all a really magnificent view, especially since we were going one mile an hour.

It's hard to imagine that someone with normal control of his mental faculties would have been walking there in the first place.
That was my first thought, too. I'm sure the guy was strung out on drugs or mentally unstable.
But Shasta is the one who had to sit in 3 hours of traffic, so I respect the way she feels as well.

Thanks, guys. I've been whining about this all morning and I appreciate the support.

I'm trying to find out more about it but there's not much information so far. And don't get me wrong, I definitely feel bad for the guy. Clearly something was going on. I just wish it didn't have so many affects on so many other people! (Yes, I'm a selfish a-hole. I'm working on it.)

After spending 3 hours in a traffic jam, it would be hard for anyone not to have those conflicted feelings. :love_heart:

Well, yes, someone was killed ... but you can bet that traffic jam caused other profoundly bad effects. Missed deadlines, missed court appearances, surgeries delayed, etc. It's really better for all concerned that people don't walk into busy traffic.
