There is a show on our public broadcaster, ABC TV, called 'The Book Club'. About 3 weeks ago they reviewed Doctor Sleep, even though the book came out last year. They have guest presenters on the show who have read the book and comment on it. Three of them did a hatchet job on the book and had the hide to comment of King's writing style even though two of them admitted on the show that was the first thing they ever read by King. I don't get how people can come on a show and make fools of themselves like that.

It's easy to understand when they are fools.

G'day!! Been to Sydney, but no deeper than that. I'd love to just tour Australia sometime.

It's easy to be all artistic and sniff at the popular guys. I put Steven Spielberg in the same category. They're just oh, too popular to be true to the spirit of the craft. And yet it's Messrs. King and Spielberg's devotion to and mastery of the craft that makes them so popular. If you haven't read a Stephen King book, if you haven't watched a Steven Spielberg movie, then you're denying yourself a large part of the culture of the last 30 or so years, and the awesome talents that made it so.

Off the soapbox. Welcome aboard!!!
