Nasty School Lunches....

I showed the pics to my daughter....she's 12..... She said her school lunches don't ever look like that, but she asked if I had ever seen pics of school lunches from Japan....those, she said, "are amazing".
At her school, they always have a choice of the entree, or a sandwich and a fruit and vegetable. We have access to the lunch menu each month, and when they serve something she doesn't like, she packs her own lunch.

Just curious - do they have vegetarian options? Since I'm working on baby making I thought I'd ask for the future.

They do have vegetarian options, as well as a fresh salad bar every day.

Yay you!! That's exciting! I only ever tried once - two were oopsies! But oh man! aren't they the best things I ever did? You needs a baby!

@staropeace - I wish you'd post some quick easy dinner recipes for us! I get so tired of serving the same things to my family, and they get so tired of eating the same things, but alas, I hate the drudgery of dinner time cooking!

re the school lunches: back in the 70s and 80s when I was still in school, our lunches were delicious! They actually fried the tator tots and used real cheese on the pizzas. We had a baked potato bar and a salad bar everyday in case you didn't like the main course. I've been packing lunches for 22 years (our first child is 22, our second is 13, and the baby is 10) - our kids never ever eat the school lunch. I took one look the first day and decided it would never happen.

My son begged to buy lunch at middle school. One day I let him. He never asked again. Apparently he threw the lunch out.

We actually put or school cafeteria out of business in 1990. The school lunches were so horrible, pretty much all the students started boycotting the cafeteria en masse. After a couple of weeks, the administration actually called an assembly where they asked us what the hell was wrong. Lots of students spoke up about the lunches, caused the administration to completely redesign the lunch program. It was pretty cool.

LOL - I feel so bad for the kids who have to eat that every day. I wonder if their moms have ever looked at it or tasted it.

I'm afraid the text seems to have parted company with the dessert pictures..........

First one is 'Spotted Dick', then 'Chocolate Pudding' and lastly 'Treacle Tart', all very scrummy!
