My other favorite oil.
Gotta question though. Are there different types of fish oil? Which fish is best?
Honestly, I buy the Spring Valley brand at walmart two 100 capsule bottles for six bucks--they don't make me burp fishy taste.

I exercise like a fiend - 2 days of strength training, 3 days of cardio and I'm adding yoga this year. Maybe it's that I'm losing estrogen as I stumble and trip through menopause (I'm right there with you sister!).Just got a book that says estrogen is good for your brain as far as preventing Alzhiemers--so is exercise
Hi Guys! hope you had a nice Holiday. I was thinking about my goals for the year to start writing 1000 words a day to finish up various projects. I thought about how happy I am to be in that writing flow again which lead me --as thoughts of happiness always do--to the extreme gratitude to God that I am here at all.
You see, back in January 10 2012, I had emergency open heart surgery to replace a defective valve and put a stent on a 5.3 aneurysm. This surgery was supposed to be 4 hours--hour 12 they were still working. At one point a major artery broke as they were trying to connect it back to my heart and they had to take one from my leg. They opened and closed me up three times because of a bleed at the aortic root. Then I had a cardiac arrest on the table and my brain was deprived of oxygen for 10 minutes--10 whole minutes. The surgeon told my family IF I woke up I would be brain dead or severely brain damaged. Six hours later I woke up. I could recognize everyone. I could write a message--I could make a joke. The doctors --all the doctors were stunned! I even got a bedside visit from the anesthesiologist who simply couldn't believe it and had to see for himself. He said, "You're supposed to be dead." My eyes smiled and I wrote, "Yeah, go figure."
Two things I attribute to my miracle-- one is prayer of course--I got prayers from all my family and my Baha'i friends all over the world--So God gave this old gal just one more chance--yea me!
The second thing I believe that protected my brain from 10 minutes without oxygen was fish oil.
Four years before my surgery I started taking 8 grams of fish oil every day--for my heart and for my brain. Every day, four tablets in the morning and four tablets in the evening. So by the time I had this event--my brain was well lubed--so to speak. Most folks don't know that our brain is made up primarily of fat and water.
Post Op I have continued to take my fish oil every single day and I urge all my new buddies on this board to do the same--it's good for heart, brain, depression and MACULAR DEGENERATION among other things:
Omega-3 fatty acids | University of Maryland Medical Center
Okay, I'm climbing down off my fish oil soap box--I got laundry to do.
Warmly, Christine
Have you been doing shots a bit early there ghostII think the one fish may be the best..or the two fish...perhaps the red fish..or maybe even the blue fish?

I had to take some vacation time from work. I'm maxed out on vacation time so if I don't use the time, I lose it at the end of the year...so I took a couple of days off to catch up on my drinking and watch bowl games...pretty much in that orderErrrr...ummmm.....huh?...lol, ok you got me....
Hey that sounds like our winter vacation! Right here, right now!I had to take some vacation time from work. Sorry to hear about how your dad died - its is a sad death. Do all you can to keep that monster of a disease away.Thank you so much for this info. I am a great believer that what we put into our bodies will naturally affect our health. It only stands to reason.
I was taking omega 3 fatty acids for a while but then stopped. My Dad had macular degeneration and Alzheimer's. I watched him die a very slow death and it was just horrible.
So anything I can do to prevent the same from happening to me is a bonus and worth taking a chance on. (I better get my butt over to that pharmacy and buy a big bottle of that stuff!)
Another thing I like to do is eat canned salmon with the bones crushed into it for the calcium. You get the fish oil and something that is good for your bones.
Great story and I have typed reports similar to your experience so thank God you survived - not everyone does! All the best in 2014 and thanks again for that advice
Pass that bottle friend - I could use a wee shot!Errrr...ummmm.....huh?...lol, ok you got me....
Consider the bottle virtually passed Neesy...lolPass that bottle friend - I could use a wee shot!
Congrats on last day I hope? Starting a new gig? I'm heading toward 17 years here in a couple of months at my job, I've almost achieved "Don't bother that guy, he's been here too long" status...lolGhost pass the shot. Was my last day at current job. Cheers to a New Year even better than 13!
I do like oily fish - but I don't take it in pill form. Can't beat a nice tooter fish popkin, just ask Roland.
Ha ha, if you forget the face of your father it's not a true popkin - that was pretty funny.
