Neat reply by the captain. I agree with the commenter who said it's a good thing that her being captain isn't news, but this note is the anachronism.

I was confused by the second part of the note which said "I wish WestJet could tell me a fair lady is at the helm so I can book another flight!" It sounds contradictory to what was said in the first part about the cockpit not being a place for a woman.

In a prior job, I worked with a representative group of female pilots. Tough as nails and I would never have distinguished any difference between their qualifications and their male counterparts. And I wouldn’t think twice about flying with one. Well except for maybe one that punked me once and made me fly in the jump seat on one of her flights.

It was an old airplane joke. I remember it from my youth, when they were called stewardesses, not flight attendances.

"Did you hear? The stewardesses' dresses are getting so short you can see the cockpit."

Westjet is the very best. I do not think this was a joke but all the flight attendants are stand up comedians...the same folks who gave all of these gifts at Christmas. The president is a Newfoundlander.

Old (dumb) joke I heard in the Canadian military - we are training so many female pilots now that they are changing the name of the cockpit to "the crow's nest" har-de-har-har circa late 80s/early 90s
