Something funny the other day while I was mowing the grass.

As you can see in the photo, Ozzy's old face has a lot of white in it. The windows in my living room are tinted and you can't see inside much from the outside. I was mowing the grass and going by the living room window when I saw Ozzy's head appear in the dark window. It was funny as hell because what I instantly thought of was the scene in Halloween where Michael comes out of the dark behind Jamie Lee Curtis and all you see is his white mask. All I could see was the white fur and I thought of the movie Halloween. ;-D

R.I.P. Ozzy

It's been a sad couple of days as I had to let Ozzy go Tuesday. He had a good run, he was 14 1/2 and very healthy for most of that time. His back end had just about completely given out. It was tough because he still seemed so mentally alert and was in good spirits considering the pain he must have been in when he walked. Through all of his leg troubles the past year, he still wanted to go for his afternoon walk and I would take him even if it was just to the end of the property and back. A couple of months ago, he stopped wanting to even do that. Here's the youngest photo I could find of him (he was 2) and there are a few of the old guy in the posts above.

I'm so sorry. It has to be the hardest thing any pet parent has to do even when we know it's the right thing to do.

Before Hurricane Frances, I don't think I have ever seen a dog have more fun than Ozzy did playing in the wind. That was a very slow moving storm and we had 35 mph or so winds and heavy rain for hours before the hurricane made landfall. I let him stay outside while it was still safe for him. He was in the back yard running back and forth chasing flying pieces of paper and being pelted by rain. Periodically, he would stop and sit down (in his best RCA dog pose) facing the wind and just let the rain pelt him for a while, then take off running again. He loved being in wind and rain and the pre-hurricane weather was a blast for him.

How I spend my days now...with Nibbler and Sunni. Does anyone remember my sweet Rescue pup? She has been my nurse-maid for a long time now. Talk about paying it forward! Plus Nibbler has recently joined the Get Better fest. He lays his big head on my shoulder to kiss me...He also purrs like a Mac Truck, but I find it quite soothing...

Okay, Nibbler and Sunni have put on weight. You still look tiny, they are both bigger than you!
