What sucks the most is that you KNOW these people like Hoffman or ledger or Kurt cobain don't need drugs to fuel their creativity or genius, no one does. But the. It's these same people who are the ones to die because of it. It's cheap, it's a waste. It's always angered me the amount of losses due to substance abuse, as I myself once struggled. I count myself lucky, but then again I was very young and looked at all the old timers and thought Jesus- that is not a life worth living. Get busy living or get busy dying!
Hoffman always struck me as a candidate for this type of ending. I was unaware of his addiction but he looked like a person with one. Sad and wasteful.

I learned a long time ago,not to judge other people..things just are they way they are,you can try and help,but many times,people refuse or turn away from help..do your best that they know the help is there,but forcing someone to that just doesn't work..reminds me of the Reverend Maclean,in A River Runs Through It..

What I find a bizarre twist-Is that he was supposed to be picking up his three kids. Which just goes to prove, I do not think he meant to overdose.
I find it hard to fathom how you can shoot that shyt up and still function at all.
He might not have done it intentionally. That's the problem with illegal drugs, you never really know what you get, and it can be mixed with all kinds of chemicals. Most of the heroin ODs in Norway come from unclean drugs.
Like I said earlier in here, there is some nasty poison going around here in NH pretending to be Heroin.
In Norway, too. So many people die. But they will use what they can get their hands on.
Germany started giving clean heroin to the longtime addicts, and even though they still get heroin, their health has improved a lot (plus, they don't have to deal with criminals daily, so their lives also improve) Personally I would never ever inject or snort or smoke anything that was bought from someone on the street. It could be anything.
Cold Mountain was definitely one of his best (and one of my favorite movies).
