West coast of Norway and east of Iceland is prime real estate for subs. If a shooting war had ever broken out between the US and USSR during the cold war, that whole stretch of water between Iceland and west coast of Norway would have been the site of most likely the largest naval battle in history. That is/was a choke point for Soviet subs coming out of the Soviet northern fleet southward to intercept NATO shipping lanes coming from America to Europe. I would have LOVED to live there and be able to see all those subs on patrol. Thanks again for the pics, Fascinating.
