Apparently one of the black boxes has been recovered, the one for the cockpit (this is according the New York Times). What I read indicated that the first part of the flight and the conversation between the pilot and co-pilot was totally normal. For some reason, one of the pilots (they did not indicate if it was the senior pilot or the co-pilot) left the cockpit. When he came back, the recording at first shows him knocking lightly and calling quietly. After a while he was pounding, and then trying to break the door open. There was no reaction from the pilot inside. Let me see if I can find the news story for you.Just heard a quip on the news that the pilot was locked out of the cockpit. How could they already know this? This is the second time in a couple of weeks that a pilot has been 'locked out' of the cockpit! The first time the co-pilot landed the plane safely. WTF?
OOO the latest news report I saw, said that they did know, and were screaming in the background on thetape..deeply troubling, those poor souls..
I also found it annoying that one of the officials commented that they didn't think looking into the co pilot's religious background was really of any relevance..it almost seems like they are trying to softsoap the investigation rather than overturn every rock to find the answer..
