A case of prices being what the free market will bear then-capitalism at work.. Obviously there are people who will pay the price or they wouldn't be getting concert gigs.
Completely agree. But I'm the one expected to dole out the cash for her to see these overpriced concerts And I'm not the only one, I suspect. Seems the artists are taking advantage of the kids knowing the parents have no spine. Pissed off parenthood at work. :)

I'm going to leave that one alone as I don't have the strength to haul out the soapbox on parents saying no today. You're welcome. ;)

LOL. Yeah, I'm too weak at times when it comes to the kids... especially when it pertains to them enjoying some of the types of things I did when I was young and foolish. I admit it... I have a gooshy side. :(

Never saw any free concerts at the Steel Pier. Who did you see? Heck, back when Rock was good you could attend concerts for very little. For $2 and $3 I saw Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band, Jethro Tull, AC/DC, Blood Sweat & Tears, Climax Blues Band, Weather Report and others.

I've been a vegetarian for almost 21 years. That faux seafood has always freaked me out. Probably because I never liked the real stuff to begin with. :)

I'm glad you found a suitable substitute!

Yeah, I was so happy when I found out that they make that now! :joyous: I can understand the wariness though, you don't really know what it is you're eating with products like that. Of course you can read it on the package, but it still feels kind of weird, especially if you weren't a fan of the taste in the first place.

Have you heard of something called "facon" - apparently it is "fake bacon" - we have a vegetarian restaurant here called Boon Burgers where none of their burgers have any meat, plus they use the fake bacon as a garnish.

I haven't heard of it, but I like the name! Is it good? I'm not a vegetarian myself, but I do like a vegetable/corn burger now and then.

There should be a law against fake bacon in Canada. Its a travesty. Not that I am bias ;)
Ha! That is funny - I was off reading the first chapter of "Hearts in Atlantis" - a new member had a question about a certain word.

I actually went there (Boon Burger) with a friend a couple of years ago - it was pretty tasty - they use some interesting ingredients in their burgers.

You can find the episode of You Gotta Eat Here on Food Network (just Google Boon Burgers on You Gotta Eat Here). It comes up with two other restaurants being reviewed - Jelly Modern Donuts and The Musket (and lots of dumb commercials!)

- Wow - I have gotten so used to fast forwarding commercials on my TV that it's annoying I cannot do it on that video - if you do go look for it, the segment on Boon Burgers is about 11 minutes in.

morgan - you might find it interesting!

Fake bacon should be outlawed EVERYWHERE! There just is no substitute for the powerful and delicious magnetism of bacon. :)

Random thought… Why are meat eaters expected to cater to vegetarian visitors, while vegetarians are never expected to cook meat for visiting meat eaters?

It's too late to edit, but just wanted to say that the particular video I posted is a bit boring (the guy sounds like he is reading off of cue cards) but you can find other videos if you just Google "Boon Burger"

I like the fact that it doesn't matter if you eat meat or not, they accept everyone "with open arms" and don't try to convert you (like a religion).
