Yes! We rented a house in the mountains for a week around there in 2006 - it was my favorite vacation - even better than the beach, and we spent 2 days at Dollywood. That's a great theme park - not crowded like the Orlando parks. My husband and oldest daughter were on that roller coaster and it stopped - I'm glad I wasn't on it. I think they had to pull them in backwards - I can't remember the whole story. We had such a great time - I'd like to be there in October for the leaves changing color.
I think it was rated the friendliest, cleanest, and safest park in the country. I enjoyed the three times I visited and I have been to the Smoky Mountains a dozen times. October is a busy time but worth it.

I have a copy of that book on my desk that I've been meaning to read. We got it from the publisher hoping for a blurb. She has a beautiful voice to match the beautiful scenery. Now I have another place to add to my travel bucket list!
