He was in the English 1986 World Cup squad. They had a top team and many thought they should have won the tournament. Wilkins was a good player, and one of my favorite players of all time, Gary Lineker, was in the team too. They had a top team.

Funny how with some people there doesn't need to be an affiliation with your team to appreciate someone. Butch was mostly Chelsea and Manchester United, I support Everton, I don't know anyone who would have disliked him. When you heard him talk about football you could hear his passion for the game resonate. A true gent who told it like it was, even if that meant admitting his teams had failed.

It was a sad day for football when ray died.
