This was my second book I read of Stephen King and it was probably one of the best books I have read, definitely the best I read in high school. I was reading it for an English class as we had to pick a book from the library and do a report. I read into a guy in one of my classes who heard it was going to be made into a movie and we discussed. Probably the closest movie made to any of the books that I have seen. I was impressed by both. It was probably why I was open to reading more of his books later on after college.

I also love this book. A few years ago it was on tv and I watched it with my elderly mother, who thought it was great. She was an avid reader as well, but sadly did not share my love of SK books. When I told her it was his, she didn't believe me at first. Then I really blew her mind when I told her one of her favorite movies, The Shawshank Redemption, was also adapted from a SK book. I guess she was just like some people who don't read his stuff because they think it's strictly horror, monsters, etc.

Wow - I just watched a clip from this movie and realized that the woman who is cured by John Coffey is actually Patricia Clarkson - I have been watching her a lot lately and really like her as an actress
