Richie packing for Derry

This has always been a mystery to me. When Richie is packing for Derry, it says that he would later find out that he only packed children's clothes. How? Richie doesn't have any children, for obvious reasons. Are they his own, from when he was a kid? It's possible, I still have some of my children's clothes. But you don't usually place them among your everyday clothes, do you? Or is King referring to adult clothes that look youthful?

Any thoughts would be helpful, thanks!

I took it to mean that he bought "play" clothes that reminded him of childhood.

Yep, what Nottie said. They were adult clothes but typical kids clothes or play clothes that he was used to in Derry. Jeans, T-shirt, keds. That was how I took it.

I looked it up, in my (Dutch) book it's on page 75, but I don't know if the page numbers are different with every language/version. It's after Steve has just hung up the phone, and right before Richie opens his safe.
