Come at the King, you better not Mist: Stephen King fights for horror rights to iconic story

Curious if this means that King did not benefit from either the Darabont film or the Spike TV series. Also, the above link mentions that King's side was incorrect about the airing dates, which was claimed to be a determining factor for the rights. Anyone know which side is correct?

I know that King has been trying to reclaim rights to his intellectual property. How many of the old stories does he now own again?
