This story (and movie) just begs for a follow up sequel - I mean what happens to the survivors after they have come back into the time stream again? What about Laurel's mission to take Nick"s story to his father? And Captain Engle explaining what happened to his plane and the missing passengers? I actually have some ideas for a sequel that would also explain more of what happened in the original tale. Anyone else have a similar train (or plane ) of thinking?

Hi sonofagun (with the sandalwood grips)! Sometimes it's best that things are not tied up with a nice bow. It leaves you to ponder afterwards, thus continuing the story, even though the reading part is over. That being said, I would greatly enjoy something like this and would read it in a heartbeat!

Or he cuts a deal with someone to co-write it with his blessing maybe?

Obviously, he should have (and would be entitled to) a piece of the resultant pie. Like I've said, the original story begs for a sequel. Wouldn't we like to have the missing pieces and unanswered questions resolved in some way? I do have the basic idea for this. Could even be a movie (or 2?). :D

There's a reason you haven't seen any sequels written by anyone other than him, i.e. he doesn't allow it. :)

Be real, do you really want to see the badly rendered creature effects again? Those were terrible even for when it was made.
