Does anyone know where the story about the boy who is home from school because of a snow storm was published? All I can remember is he is home alone and listening to the radio and the announcer keeps reporting that towns have been "canceled". I remember I really liked this story.

Are you certain it's an sK story?

I think I've read all the short stories, and don't recall this one yet, not that it isn't there. I figure rule own the possibility it's another author first. I imagine Bev or Robin would know.

I'm beginning to question myself (and, to a small degree, my sanity) about whether it is a SK story or not. I could have mixed it with some other story.

I remember the boy's mother had to go to work and leave him home alone (because of the snow day called in on account of the storm) and she works in a town nearby, and that town is one of the ones the guy on the radio says has been "canceled", so the boy calls his mother's work # and gets an out of order signal. Something like that.

I went to the library on SK.com and looked through the complete list of short stories hoping one of the titles would pop out and hit me in the nose, but no go.

If it isn't a SK story prhaps someone out there read it and knows who it was written by.

Maybe I have finally gone all the way around the bend!

I'm a sucker for his short story collections and it rings no bells with me. Not even a tiny tinkle..

Clearly I have it mixed up in my mind. I wish I knew where I read/heard this story.

The little boy home alone--or almost--could be GRAMMA. God, That story creeped me out. This is ringing a faint bell for me, too, though. Now I need to go searching--lol

The synopsis of Gramma which I just read makes no mention of the boy making any phone calls, nor of snow being a factor in the story, so I'm assuming that Gramma is not the one.

I'm all over the map with authors (and most everything else) so it could have been anyone. I could have heard it on the radio (it's possible).

Whoever it was, it was awhile ago (90' maybe?) not last year. If it was last year, I would really be worried.

Thanks for thinking about this with me, it's been tapping on my brain since last night.
