My mom had one of these years and years ago. I wonder what happened to that thing?

This sounds like a someecards ecard.Congrats on escaping your current plateau.
2016 has finally arrived! Surprisingly, it's looking good for your friendly neighborhood SwiftDog already!
So why is it so good so far? I start a new job on the 4th! SwiftDog has gone Federal! As in I will be a civilian employee for a Federal Agency. That's right! SwiftDog can now be subversive within the belly of the beast!
Seriously though, I'm looking forward to it. I had been with the same family of companies for over 20 years and had pretty much plateaued career growth and salary wise. It was time for a change. This new role gives me a significant salary bump, better benefits, and an honest to goodness pension if I am still there after five years.
This opportunity came my way via a former co-worker and things fell into place pretty quickly. I'm a little scared but, to paraphrase Joel Godson, in Risky Business, Sometimes you gotta say "what the f***" and make your move!
The only drawback is I now have to take the commuter rail into Boston every day (which isn't cheap). Means getting up earlier but the total time on the train will probably be shorter than the amount of time I spent sitting in traffic just trying to get out of the industrial park my former employer was in.
Anyways, just wanted to share with my friends here on the board. I hope that everyone else gets a positive start to the year as well!
Congrats.....now we can blame you for being a cog in the system.
Congratulations Swiftdog 2.0 Yes a really good start for you.
I also start my new job on Thursday so maybe a good start here too, if I get this job our life will change to better.
