I listened to Uriah Heep in my youth, kind of a prototypical heavy metal band, and this melancholy ditty was out of the box for them. But I've always liked it.

I had tickets to see them at a local place back in 2012 but they cancelled the concert. Would have been worth it just to hear Easy Living.I listened to Uriah Heep in my youth, kind of a prototypical heavy metal band, and this melancholy ditty was out of the box for them. But I've always liked it.

Blue Öyster Cult is playing in November. $29 for a ticket is not too bad. Paid $5 back in 1973 to see them. Deep Purple (a group I’ve always wanted to see) is playing tomorrow night, but sadly not enough of the original band to make me want to go.
An underrated Deep Purple song...
Wow, 2012. I wonder if the age-related maladies were kicking in. I say that with sympathy.
We took the kids to see a trio concert back when - Dream Theater, Emerson Lake & Palmer, and Deep Purple. To my surprise and pride, ELP was the favorite for them, although after watching Emerson's antics on the keyboards and Palmer's wizardry on the skins, they were saying, "What is it that Lake does?"
Ian Gillian of Deep Purple was the superior vocalist, of course, even though he had lost a couple degrees of power, and there was one spot that he tried and just couldn't hit at all. He had a "whaddya do?" moment with the crowd, who were collectively good-natured about it. And their keyboarder and drummer were no slouches, certainly. Just weren't the savant status of Keith and Carl.
I'm not much on concerts, but that one was well worth it.
Moving Pictures has their biggest hit (Tom Sawyer) and Limelight is pretty well-known. But this one gets passed over. IMO, this is a perfect song as story and music work brilliantly together.
Question for you, If you formed a rock band (assuming you aren’t in one already) would it be “Three SwiftDog Night”?
Great song. Love the opening guitar harmonics!
Y’know, I may have only picked “Golden Age of Leather” a few months ago as being underated, but being honest (almost) their entire discography is. I mention them a lot (maybe too much, lol) in music threads, but they are truly one of my favorite bands out there, bested only by the Beatles if not equal to them. The original BÖC line up (Eric, Buck, Allen, and the Bouchard brothers) had one of the strongest music discography’s, in my opinion at least, out there. Their first 3 albums are perfect, and they continued to be all through the 70’s and early 80’s up till after the release of “Extraterrestrial Live” (1982). Even after that, when the band’s lineup started wavering, they still had some solid songs (Dragon Lady, Take Me Away, Perfect Water, Del Rio’s Song, Imaginos, Spy in the House of the night, Harvest Moon, Dance on Stilts). Heck even their super obscure previously unreleased material until the Rarities compilation album were awesome (Mommy, Boorman the Chauffeur, Dial M for Murder, etc.). Yet people still only know “Don’t Fear the Reaper”, “Burning For You” And occasionally “Godzilla”. Oof, that was a lot of ranting, but I just had to get it out.
Another BOC song that doesn’t get its props.
I was able to see BOC once in a small venue in Tacoma. They were really great live. My favorite BOC song (and yes, it's underrated). I made this video of a night-time snorkel to it (in SD, sorry)Y’know, I may have only picked “Golden Age of Leather” a few months ago as being underated, but being honest (almost) their entire discography is. Cool! That would’ve been the year of Tyranny & Mutation, eh? Had two solid albums by then, still a year before what I would consider their best work would release. Secret Treaties and Carrie were released less than a week apart from each otherBlue Öyster Cult is playing in November. $29 for a ticket is not too bad. Paid $5 back in 1973 to see them.
Great King Rat, March of the Black Queen, and Innuendo don’t get their dues eitherDragon Attack and Mustapha, both by Queen.
