The Sun Dog

Story happens in Castle Rock, same setting as The Dead Zone, Cujo, The Body, Uncle Otto’s Truck, Mrs Todd’s Shortcut and The Dark Half. The following works also refer to Castle Rock; Graveyard Shift, The Stand, Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption, Pet Semetary, Gramma, Nona, and It.

Features Reginald “Pop” Merrill, John “Ace” Merrill’s (from The Body) Uncle. Great uncle in Law of Ralph McCausland (The Tommyknockers).

Mention of Meghan believing in the invisible world;

  • Walking corpses as in the Wead Eater in the Gunslinger, The vampires in ‘Salem’s Lot and The recently deceased buried in the Pet Semetary.
  • Cars that came to life and ran down people they didn’t like as in Christine.

Mention of Ace Merrill (The Body) doing time in Shawshank (Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption). He had been busted by Sheriff Alan Pangborn (The Dark Half).

Mr Delevan had taken an extra job working with a dangerous washing machine to pay off a debt with Pop Merrill. (The Wrangler)

Alan Pangborn and Polly Chalmers make an appearance. It is mentioned that Sheriff Pangborn lost his wife and son to an accident recently. All these characters had been in The Dark Half.

Mention of Juniper Hill, where Henry Bowers spent time in It. Also mentioned in The Tommyknockers and The Dark Half.

Kevin dreams of being in a place called Oatley and being called a fushing Feef by a wino. Connection to The Talisman.

Mention of Cujo and the happenings in the story.

Mention of Polly Chalmers and that we will be discussing her at a later time... possibly in Needful Things???
