I had been watching the news on CNN, and when reports questions started just repeating, I was flicking through news stations. All the Canadian stations were also covering this. Then, I get to CP24, and they have different number of people injured, various other details different. Turns out they were talking about a stabbing today in Toronto.

Crazy crazy world.

...anything I would say about the "knifer" would be wildly inappropriate....allow me to say this, and then I'll hush...may the White lend it's healing power and grace to the wounded, student body and community...I honestly am at a loss as to where the demons are coming from, what obscene Pandora's Box has been opened in the last few years....Evil is always present, but has grown beyond irksome with it's insistence on being EVERYWHERE now...

There's some dynamic at play that some human psyches just can't deal with. I don't know if it's alienation by electronics, dissolution of the nuclear family, social integration even as classes become more sharply divided, or what.

School violence, road rage, the level of entitlement, all severely present in levels that I haven't seen before in my life. I suspect that there are just too many things that have changed too rapidly in society for some humans to deal with effectively, and they pass that psychosis-from-inadequacy on to others.

Despite all that, you gotta clamp down and punish when these horrendous things are done, even as you turn over the rocks, looking for solutions.

I dunno. It worries me for the grandkids, and their kids.

Ironically my wife and I had considered moving to that school district a few years ago because it has traditionally been perceived as "safer" than the one we currently live in. However, we decided against it because the community is too wealthy. We worried our kids would be ostracized and not fit in amongst the others. Now, I hear this kid "didn't even own a smartphone" (gasp!)

By the way, Murrysville is not really Pittsburgh-area, besides being 15 miles away. It's about as un-Pittsburgh as you can get--it's mostly white, mostly affluent.

Sounds scary. I had to look if this was in our news too, yes it was. Prayers being said for all injured. We had last year
a stabbing incident in a school here in Finland. But only 4 was injured. It's sad that children can not even be safe at school.

SMH when i was in high school we had a few bomb threats that caused the place to be evacuated but nobody ever really did anything so i'm happy about that. These things have been happening alot in the last few years makes me question if i should put my daughter in school. I hope everyone that ws injured in the stabbing gets well soon.

From the article:

Investigators haven’t determined a motive, but Seefeld said they’re looking into reports of a threatening phone call between the suspect and another student the night before. Seefeld didn’t specify whether the suspect reportedly received or made the call.

A threatening phone call triggers this?
...and the lawyer is already processing the ever-present "mental health" defense...spare me....
