Many years ago, my grandmother sent me a book with a note that said, "Sweet Child, I think this fellow has a lot more books in him. If you like this one, let me know and I will go on buying them for you." True to her word, she did, the last in 1999. She died in 2000 and I kept up the tradition until two years ago when I developed corneal dystropy and as a result can no longer longer read. A friend who had been in the hospital for 8 miserable months got my entire first edition library in mint condition and I switched to audio books. To my horror, I am finding more and more abridged audio books. Mr. King chooses every word that goes into his books and each one is of inestimable value in the overall story line of each book. I cannot see the sense in abridging his work and I think he should not permit it.
