Sorry! I didn't realize that was for us!!! Ha! Sorry, sorry, sorry.
bookworm101, Tim and I are most definitely friends. That's how we relate. And if I ever meet him in real life I'm going to punch him.

I have to disagree about him not being very good. I've read some Koontz stuff that freakin' brilliant, imho. I just don't have the bias against him that so many sK fans seem to, a bias originating in the assumptions that the two authors write same kind of books, and that artistic appreciation is about comparing others.Well, I think it's because he's not very good.
I read him. I very much liked his old stuff. But it just got really strange and filled with dogs. It got boring and stale.
Now, many people might not agree but you are, after all, on an SK page.
If you join a Koontz page you may get the same results.
You know I love you but if you want a Koontz fan club, you should probably be on a Koontz page, my friend.
Which post of mine are you referring to? I can't figure it out.I think this is a good place for those chill pills Blunt.
I just don't compare the two at all, possibly due to time begin shorter for me than it is for younger people. If I like an author I read him/her. I don't have time to think about it.....go easy on Lily-TD, sometimes humor(on both sides)doesn't translate well...and being a no-apology Koontz fan myself-I've never found an understanding of the vitriol directed at his work from anyone-not just fellow Constant Readers...maybe it's because few of his books are as deeply layered and complex as Steve's....don't really care though, coz I'm gonna keep reading...
...well Geez-Leweeez, how could I forget you were the Oracle of all things factual....I love you sweetie, you know that-but we will always disagree over Koontz...
I think we are both aware that my opinions ARE fact.
...and get a signed affidavit as to where the cheese came from...Well, I may have to get Shasta to try it before I do...
...wow, obviously you know nothing about the author you denigrate....Trixie was like their child, and if you had actually read the book instead of shi**ing all over it, you might have enjoyed it...so what's the problem with him using Trixie for kid's books? Kids like dogs!...and you're saying that best judge of the quality of an author is the size of his or her adaptation list?....that is a truly sad comparison...Koontz may be just Koontz-but I'll take a dozen of him to someone as truly disrespectful as you...Koontz wrote a number of good books a long time ago, but he's lost it over the years. He recently wrote a non-fiction book about his dog, Trixie, how it made his and his wife's life better - I mean, come on! And after that, Koontz went Trixie-happy again and wrote a number of childrens's books where Trixie is the main character. Really, Dean? Also, if you check Internet Movie Database and look at all the movies and TV adaptations of Koontz's work, you'll see a very short list compared to King's list. Yes, there's quite a few King adaptations that are not so super great but there's only ONE Koontz adaptation that is good and that's Sole Survivor. However, as someone wrote here, Koontz has a great sense of humor, I'll give him that. King is the King - and Koontz is just Koontz.

Dean Koontz is apparently as unknown to some sK fans as sK is to the rest of the world. I remind DanishReader that when asked years ago in a 60 Minutes interview, or some such, if he'd read Jane Austen Stephen King answered no, but that he'd read most of what Dean Koontz had written. I just wish people would stop jumping to silly conclusions about Stephen King or Dean Koontz or me or you or anybody. Stop, listen, and think instead....wow, obviously you know nothing about the author you denigrate....Trixie was like their child, and if you had actually read the book instead of shi**ing all over it, you might have enjoyed it...so what's the problem with him using Trixie for kid's books? I agree that a Koontz fan belongs on a Koontz fan page, as an sK fan belongs here, but also that obviously both can belong in both places, too.
I think Joe Hill is Dr Sleep. Don't ask me why.
It might just be an alphabetical thing? I saw a lot of Koontz books near the King books at the thrift store (but perhaps I am oversimplifying things here) - if so, I apologize. I have yet to try one of Mr. Koontz's books.Well, excuuuuuuuuuussssse me. I merely made the comment, intended in a humorous way, as a jab at the inordinate amount of bile spewed toward Mr. Koontz by Stephen King fans. I have never understood, with the countless number of authors whose works occupy the bookstore shelves and the electronic ether, why SK fans constantly feel the need to single out Dean Koontz as a target for their ire. Dean Koontz has sold tens of millions of books, has had many number one best sellers and has entertained millions of people worldwide with his brand of deftly written suspense thrillers, while only rarely treading upon similar horror territory as Mr. King. Koontz has declared no personal war against SK or his followers yet it seems that oft times people on this board go out of their way to belittle him. I don't see the same sort of venomous attitude displayed towards other best selling horror writers such as Clive Barker, Robert McCammon or even John Saul, whose work sometimes seems to be a low rent rip off of SK. Are all Koontz books winners? Nope. But he has written a lot of novels that are damn fine by any standard. If one does not care for the stories of Dean Koontz or his golden retrievers or whatever else about the man that seems to offend so many SK fans, then one is under no obligation to read his books. But I just think it would be nice if people could refrain from insulting the man every time his name is mentioned.
Neesy, I haven't read any of Koontz yet either. Live and let live, why should get my t@ts in an uproar over someones opinion? Like an azshole, everyone has one, some stink and some are spot on, but to spew negativity towards someone without cause because of a displaced 'loyalty'? Na..It might just be an alphabetical thing? I saw a lot of Koontz books near the King books at the thrift store (but perhaps I am oversimplifying things here) - if so, I apologize. I have yet to try one of Mr. Koontz's books.
...yes ma'am...point taken...and I am moving on....I just deleted a much longer reply, when I realized it wasn't worth it....This may be a good time to remind folks that they can
a) have differing opinions without making things personal,
b) agree to disagree and move on, or
c) make use of the Ignore option
