Yum - pasta salad.

Here's what I did to the Ogre once. I had decided I'd cook Beef Stroganoff. Only I didn't have any ground beef. But I did have the previous night's spaghetti sauce with ground beef in it. So I rinsed the sauce off the ground beef and used that. Only I didn't have any sour cream either. But I did have some French onion dip, so I substituted that. Then I wanted Italian green beans on the side. Only I didn't have Italian dressing, so I used straight red wine vinegar. Girl, my eyes burned from the fumes when I opened the oven door. But I served it up. Our oldest was about 4 at the time and she watched all this going down. She wouldn't touch her dinner, she ate some strawberries and cheese. My husband tried it. He didn't get too far into it before he realized something had gone horribly wrong. He still mistrusts me a bit - especially with any kind of casserole.

Ok, I did not go food shopping. Rummaged around and found elbow macaroni.
Found ranch dressing. Hmm. Yup, elbows and ranch. :O_O: Hot

I really need to go shopping.
Before I actually learned how to cook I would take cans of various items and plop them all together in a pot. (It sometimes looked pretty bad). Someone took the lid off the pot once and said "Who threw up in this pot?":m_dizzy:

That's when I started using a cook book :reading:

That is why I cannot eat lamb (even to this day). My Mom would cook mutton (it was cheaper) back in the 60s - God, did that stink!
Yep-leave those babies alone! ;;D

I remember in college, I bought a pound bad of cheese puffs for the munchies. I got a 16-oz Coke. Took it back to the dorm. Started reading and picking at the food. After a while, the bag and bottle were empty, and I had an orange hand.

And I didn't even gain weight then.

As far as current day, I improvise as much as possible. I have a number of go-to dishes, but I like to keep Grandma guessing.

When I was over in Scotland, after a couple of months I started getting nostalgic for things like Kraft peanut butter, etc.
I enjoy a nice cheese and pickle sandwich sometimes (Kraft singles sliced process cheese and Bick's Yum Yum pickles on bread). So Andy heard me say I miss having a nice cheese and pickle sandwich.

He made me a sandwich with cheddar cheese and something called "Branston Pickle" - uggh! it was dark brown and was essentially pickled vegetables - yuk - it was disgusting and I could not eat it xD

I had some great crawfish etouffe in Nawlins, but I wouldn't call it unusual there.

Ate some fried crickets once. They would've been better if they weren't just a tad underdone, at least to my sensibilities.

I used to mix up raw eggs in orange juice for breakfast. Never tried the Rocky thing, though.

I had steak tartare one time. It was fine, but not fine enough to want to eat it again. A nice hummus would've been tastier.

A Black Sea fish at a Turkish restaurant in NYC. It was delicious.

I think I would find it impossible to knowingly eat any kind of insect. Well, I suppose for a price, maybe.

Ha ha, branston pickle is rancid. However, branston pickle flavoured mini cheddars are delectable.

I had a kangaroo burger a few years ago - not rare or weird at all in Australia, quite rare in England though.
