Yup. But we're in 'MURICA, darn it! (and especially THIS part of 'Murica) I'm very glad my two younger kids go to charter schools that have categorically rejected guns on campus, but my older kids went to a public H.S. where everyone knew which teachers were carrying. The ex-Marine English teacher…I really didn't have an issue with him (as he's been properly trained), but the others were just scary. No guns in schools, anywhere. Period. There is no reason whatsoever to arm teachers, administrators, students, or custodial staff.
This is exactly the point I tried to raise in another thread a while back. How can our kids learn in a police state? Ridiculous! I am so glad I am not a child in school anymore or have children in school. This is perposterous.I'm just wondering what message this sends to children about their learning environment. Knowing that any staff could be carrying a concealed weapon would rattle students, I would think, at least on a subconscious level. How can a child fully concentrate on reading or long division if their teacher believes school is so unsafe they need to carry a firearm?
