Not to be rude, but I often skip the introductions in Stephen's books; not because they bore me, but rather because they distract me from the story. I was lucky to do so when reading "The Running Man", because on page 7 (I think?) of the intro, "The Importance of Being Bachman" there is a explicit statement describing the end of the novel, which is as shocking and over-the-top as one can expect from a King book (especially the Bachman variety). I was so shocked to find this spoiler that I took a sharpie and immediately blacked out the entire paragraph, should any lucky soul happen upon it and choose to read it. And I never, never, mutilate my books. I do my best to keep them in bookstore condition. Usually.
Anyway, that's my complaint. Otherwise, I've enjoyed nearly every one of King's books that I've read (we'll all try to forget about Dreamcatcher), but this was quite vexing.
