I personally liked the book better then the movie. The movie changed a lot great things that made the book scary and gruesome.

The book is usually always better (more insight into what the characters are thinking, etc.) but they did a d*mn fine job with the film. Kathy Bates took home an Oscar for her riveting performance after all. She walked a very fine line- if she had been a little more over the top it wouldn't have worked but she kept it from becoming ridiculous.

I couldn't help but wonder when James Caan was going to switch into Sonny Corleone mode. =D
