There are two phonenumbers on the poster: Patrick Hockstetter | Stephen King Wiki | FANDOM powered by Wikia

Are these regular American phonenumbers? Or are they modified in some way - like, say, they added a number more than what is usual, so that it isn't an actual phonenumber.

Can you call them and perhaps get a promotion for the movie (not that I'll try that, because of the costs). Did anyone try it?
(The Carrie remake had such a promotion, Moretz urged people to call a certain number on Twitter. I never tried it though.)

....I'm not implying risk, just not interested enough to call them.....not being a jerk, it's how I feel....

I should have quoted more precisely, I only reacted to "...they appear to be "real" US toll-free numbers....but the second set of 3 digits, looks like they would be non-functioning..."

By the second set of three digits you mean 131 in the first number, and 174 in the second? Those are unusual?

...they appear that way to me, not used to those numbers being that "low", usually 200's and above......

Were the missing posters actually in the book in detail? Can't remember. Miss Mod said one time he used a real police number in a book and obviously the police got bothered a lot by people calling it - she didn't say what book it was though.

Would there be some phonebook where you could search with the number instead of a name or address? Where you put in a number and can see who or what it belongs to? I suppose not, cause there would be little use for it in general...

...no nothing like that, and given the atmosphere these days-I would expect the makers of the film to be very careful about letting numbers like that out there-unless they were to an actual Missing Persons hotline-and even then, it would be pranked by callers....not smart thinking if they indeed left the real thing on there.....

But in general American numbers have ten digits, right? Like these numbers?

Since you said you're used to the second set of three digits being HIGHER, could it be that they use numbers that have gone in disuse? Would phonecompanies keep numbers that were once used, but not anymore? And could filmmakers or writers have access to such a list and get permission to use them - there couldn't be much harm in that, I guess.

....yes....10 digits.....and I don't know about numbers that have gone unused for quite some time.....I know it used to be done in the cellular industry, but have no idea beyond that....

This is a little off topic but I remember calling the promotional number for that movie Vacancy, I remember there being screams in the background and the creepy hotel owner saying that someone was "tied up at the moment".

I called them last week. I'm now the happy owner of a beautiful Tornado Mop.
