Once again I fell absolutely IN LOVE with the way he tells stories, let alone his ability to create them and somehow make you feel so connected to he characters. towards the end of the book everything with Sarah laughs and the ghosts finally stated making sense, something I couldn't quite get a clear connection on was how exactly mike and Ky were linked. obviously the generational thing all of them being connected to the men who murdered Sarah and her son, but how was it that she was able to meet him in his dreams? wondering if anyone had any theories on this or if there's something I missed.

...never really thought that deeply about it...always assumed it was just the power of her spirit, fueled by hatred, that allowed her to travel amongst dimensions....

Very true. I also am curious what it was his wife was up to. Was she writing something when she dug up all the Sarah stuff or was it coincidental. my over thinking brain will never know :biggrin2:

that part was answered. she basically figured out there was something screwy going on with the house, and started researching, and found all the things out that he did eventually, and at some point was planning to tell him, but sara got to her first

I mean, the kid's mother had her head blown off and the guy missed out on a golden opportunity to sleep with her while she still had a head (oh, and his wife's dead), it's bitter enough so just let the guy adopt the kid instead of tossing her in a home and putting up a bunch of red tape.

I only read the "wish the ending were a little less bittersweet" part and the rest after that kinda threw me off xDStill, loved the book and the characters:smile:

Just re-read "Bag of Bones" for the first time and decided this story is the scariest in a long time. Loved the telepathy part. There are places in the story of characters or Mike being in another time, so was going to the Freyberg Fair really a dream if Mike had Ky with him?

This brings up one of my bigger issues with King. He'll go on for days about every nook and cranny of a location down to the minutia of what shoes the residents wear, but when it comes to the questions that need answering, he'll either briefly gloss over them or not even attempt to answer them.

Why is Perse a China doll (or rather trapped within one)? Why are the paintings necessary in order for Perse to truly manifest her powers? Is it because the injured painters themselves also have some kind of magical power?

He used paintings in Rose Madder too - maybe paintings just 'speak' to him (not really sure, just guessing)

Not everything needs an explanation such as the existence of ghosts for example. However, certain explanations are simply proper etiquette. Now before you launch into semantics, just know that we're not talking about some expressionistic piece of art here. There is in fact some heavy-handed (more like half-arsed) exposition in Duma Key with ventriloquism as the plot device that effectively answers little to nothing.
