And that poor mole with the ponytail -- yuck!;)
Oh, no, the flashbacks! I had totally washed that mole out of my mind. It's all coming back . . . between the ponytail, glasses, and mole the look was more Jeffrey Dahmer than adult Bill Denbrough. So, score one for the new adaptation for at least foregoing those unfortunate costuming choices.

Nice picture, thanks for posting it! Looks good.

It's interesting to see a modern-day adaptation, with contemporary costume choices. I wonder how they are going to deal with technology. Save for a particular alien clown creature, there are issues from the 80's that today's technology (cell phones, the Internet, social media) could resolve.
I think you're right. However, I guess a particular alien clown creature would block it all anyway, one way or another. Mike thought they would have an advantage as adults too, because they now had those helmets with light and some maps they didn't have back then. But they never got to use them. I think something like that could happen again.

It's gonna be interesting to see how they modernize the story while being faithful to the novel. I thought they did a good job with the first one. I think it's already been confirmed that it will be during one of Mike's drugging out scenes that will be how they find out about how IT came to Earth instead of the Smoke hole. I predict that Richie is gonna be an online personality of some kind like a podcaster.

I agree, that would be a good translation to this era. I'm looking forward to finding out, but I still think it's a shame they left/leave out the smoke hole. The whole thing pretty much establishes how serious they are about going after It, it's not just some kiddie thing. I think the seriousness of the Lucky 7 is one thing Chapter 1 is lacking.

This could be part of what they are filming with the kids, plus there coudl be extra scenes from Chapter 1 already filmed that will show it.

That totally makes sense and fits well with the source material, like you said. I suppose another option would be to make Derry a zone with spotty cell service and wifi; still pretty believable for certain towns in 2018.

Am I the only one pissed about Mike being a junkie? He was my favorite character in the book and I was already unhappy about how he was presented in #1.
I haven't too far into the book yet. I remember in the mini-series that he was talking about his life being a mess for a while. Maybe this is there way of addressing that if its from the novel.

Nope. You are not alone, but this is coming from someone who did not love the new adaptation. Mike was such an interesting, dynamic character in the novel. I felt like a lot of that was lost in the first part of the new adaptation. Yet again, Bev also got short changed in the adaptation [
Ick, I hated that damsel in distress nonsense at the end; granted, that scene in the novel was awful on a whole different level, but the adaptation's new ending for Bev in Part One felt so lazy
.
All that being said, I think there's some potential that Mike's addiction storyline might work. Mike battling addiction (especially to something like prescription opioids since we're getting a 2018 timeline in Part II) kind of makes sense and could be read in the subtext of the novel (how else could he mentally handle being the only one saddled with memories?). I just think it might be difficult to do the addiction/memory keeper role well. Castle Rock deals well (and subtly) with addiction, so it can be done. So, I guess we will see; could go either way.

Considering how much Chapter 1 deviated from the novel I'm not surprised by anything now.

The changing of the timeline as well as the character's back stories in Chapter 1was completely unnecessary. I didn't outright hate Chapter I but I was not overly impressed. For me, the film just did not live up to the hype.

Jessica Chastain has wrapped filming her parts for the 2nd half. I guess they've already started filming the final battle. So far the only child character from the first half that hasn't been fully confirmed to be in Chapter 2 is Georgie. I wonder if they are gonna have the final Georgie illusion.
