Yes, I think Van Gogh sometimes had a kind of wicked sense of humor.I'd never seen this one before blunthead until you posted it in the Cool thread several months ago . . .it's way cool!
Don McLean had some really nice (if sometimes overcooked) work. Of course, his most recognizable is "American Pie."
But this song, to me, is as good as he gets. As good as any number of writers could get.
I have to say that a few years ago, during a trip to Lost Wages, the wife and I did an art tour in the Bellagio. Featured were original works of a number of artists - Matisse, Del Greco, Van Gogh, and others.
You could actually lean over the rope and see, up close, the original brushstrokes. And I was struck by the Van Gogh painting. Some of it was very cool, painstaking, the color selection remarkable, and some of it was almost crude, with the raised paint in the strokes.
It was wonderful to see. It costs us $10 each for the self-guided tour with digital narration wands. One of the best ten bucks we've ever spent
Wow, I thought that was a photo at first glance! Very nice!I grew up in the art world, so I used to take the good stuff for granted. I appreciate the masters more today. My mom was pretty good. She made a lot of money from prints...for other people.
I'm glad they do, danie! Me too, he always has. These paintings make me so happy! Thanks, Blunt!
