My brain is tired. I'm having a hard time getting into anything, though I have one book club book (Luncheon of the Boating Party-Susan Vreeland), one review book (The Bourbon Kings-J.R. Ward) and three library books sitting in front of me. *sigh* And a review to write. *Sigh* And two manuscripts to finish. *SIGH* Might be time to hit a cozy book I've read a hundred times to recharge my batteries.

Just finished The Scarlett Gospels by Clive Barker. At first I thought maybe I have gotten too old to read his books because of the gore factor but that passed.I thought it was an ok read.Kind of felt like a book from The Dresden Files. On my King Reread journey I am on Firestarter.

I know what you mean, I took off the beautiful filmy cover of The Bone Tree by Iles so excited to finally get to the second part of Penn and Dr. Tom's story and I cannot get past the first page. Usually reading takes me away where I can escape my worries. I guess I'll have to wait it out. I hope the cozy book works for you.

Couldn't even do that. After I finished my review last night, I flipped through a few books and just couldn't get the plot, so I watched TV. Tried TURN, but the historical inaccuracies drove me nuts (lol), so I decided to try It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia (my older kids love that). Terrible, terrible people...but funny!

I just finished a Cemetery Dance anthology e-book called Dark Screams volume 1. The 5 stories were good and the highlight was Stephen King's "Weeds." Weeds was a story in the movie Creepshow but I had never read it or even seen it in print before.

I'm on to volume 2 next with stories by McCammon, Matheson and others.
I have either vol 1 or 2 of that sitting on my Kindle, but I haven't opened it yet. Glad to hear that it's good!

Finished Gallows View by Peter Robinson. The first in his Banks series. Written about 87. Have read the later in the series, which is very good, but it shows in this one that it is his first. But it is interesting to see where he started. This is good but not at all excellent as many of his later detective stories are. Both character description, plots and dialogue gets better. I hadn't read his early so i got his first three and decided to read them. Starting A Dedicated Man next. He must have written about 20 books by now. Unlike other other series it can be cunfusing if you read them in wrong order. Not because of plots or that they cantr be read on their own, they can, but because the person gallery changes. People dies, get fired, retires or move to another police unit. Banks is the only person that are there in every book. If you read a late one and then an early you might wonder why he has totally different persons around him which is totally clear if you read them in order. If anyone is interested in good crimenovel with a more human cop than the more tough guys like these Rankin (or Child for that mattter) likes to show us he is to be recommended.

Mixed feelings. :smile2: I can't really share any of the plot points so no one to talk to about it and then by the time the book does come out, there are things I've forgotten.

You should be given the audiobook before immediate release of the book. Free hands to still do crafting, office work, gardening and be up to speed when the book is published.

I sat down at LilMan's swimming lesson today and realized that I forgot to bring the book I'm reading for review. Dipped into the Kindle-well of books I forget to read and hit upon one of my editor's novels that I hadn't even opened...then spent the day reading it. It was published as 'romance', but it's barely that--more a paranormal, faith vs. base nature story, with angels, demons, and everything :) Thoroughly enjoyed it!
