Finished Behind Closed Doors yesterday. I can't remember the author's name, and I've already delted it from my nook app.
It was one of the most far-fetched books I've ever read. It was recommended by a friend who (usually) shares my taste in books, but this was a waste of time and $$$.

Now reading Sophie's Choice. I like it so far. I tried to watch the film recently, but it just seemed silly (and I'm so not a fan of Meryl Streep or Kevin Kline).
Sophie's choice the movie has one of the most gut-wrenching scenes ever. Ever. You should give it another go and let yourself be spell-bound by Streep. Her performance is beyond magnificent here.

You could not watch Sophie's Choice? Oh my. That film broke my heart.

I have never read the book, I must.

Finished And Justice There Is None by Deborah Crombie. A whodunit that wants a bit too much. It wants to be a great crimenovel and it wants to be a human drama about conflicting interests between private and workrelated issues. Result: It does not really succeed in any of it. Pace is good but the solution rather obvious. I only waited and wondered why don't they ask him/her? Decent but not more. I can see her writing a real good one but she must then decide what she wants to tell.

I am about 50 pages in so far.
What I took to be a "different style of prose" now feels a bit wishy washy.
I will stick with it, but...yeah...I can see why you did. Hopefully it will pick up a bit...and soon ;-D

...I'm a fan, and it bored me to tears.....
Innocence is the only Koontz book (so far) I've been unable to finish.

Now I want to read the book also. Took me a long time to get up the courage to watch the movie. Even though I had an idea of what I was in for, was completely unprepared for that emotional ride. Watched it a couple of years ago and still think about it often.

Finished Hag-Seed a couple days ago. The last few pages were a complete synopsis of Shakespeare's The Tempest and was my least favorite part of the book. But it was only a couple pages, so overall a very good read.

Started Nineteen Minutes by Picoult last night and am about 70 pages in (didn't take long for the major event of the story to take place). Very engrossing so far.

Also started a non-fiction book The Magnolia Story by Chip and Joanna Gaines. Last year I watched the season of Fixer Upper that was available on Netflix. Have always been interested in design, but do not have the talent. Also wish I could fix things, but can't even hit a nail with a hammer without smashing my thumb! *sigh* :smile2:

At the time, I had a Polish brother in law. He was amazed with her accent, spot on.
And how well she told that story.

And if you pay attention closely you can see how thick her accent is when Stingo (we) first meets her at the rooming house and how she loses it somewhat as time goes by. Amazing how she was able to do it!!

Today I started and finished Clive Barker's latest, a collection of short stories called Infernal Parade. I got it on Kindle for six bucks or so and totally enjoyed it!

I am now reading Ania Ahlborn's Brother and just started a reread of Gerald's Game. I'm rereading King's works in chronological order; I've reached 1992.
