Fun fact: It’s called Frankenstein because it was made by stitching a bunch of previously recorded content together
Maybe so. When I saw Edgar Winter in concert he took the time to tell us about when he wrote the song. While touring he was sitting on his bed in a hotel room, that guitar like keyboard thing in hands, and it all came together... and in a couple of hours the basis for the song was complete. I think he said Rick Derringer and Ronnie Montrose (two of the 70’s rock gods) helped record it.

I've got an expanded edition of Johnny winter's album Second Coming (1970-1971?) that has a concert from that period on the bonus disc. Edgar played in Johnny's band quite often around that time and I think it was before Edgar had any (or just started making) solo albums. Anyway, on this concert Edgar is playing in the band and the song was performed at this concert. Edgar had this one for a couple of years before put it on his album. Rick Derringer played with Johnny after the Second Coming album so Edgar and Rick probably crossed paths there. On the Johnny album with Rick Derringer, there's a version of Rock n Roll Hoochie Koo that Johnny sings a couple years before Rick's version was a hit.
