Okay, we get it. You both have different favorites from the Van Halen David Lee Roth and Sammy Hagar days. What I'm seeing is that it's personal preferences, not that one is better than the other although swiftdog2.0, you play professionally so have some expertise at what makes a good musician so will give you that. Unless this is just friendly bantering that's coming across more strongly than either of you intend, maybe it's time to agree to disagree and move on. Just sayin'.

Just a friendly debate moderator, everyone entitled to their opinion. I'm actually finding it quite funny. Everyone has their opinion ... and I'm right. :) Nah, just joking.

How about you Marsha, are you a with Sammy or Dave? Come on, we all know you jam to 1984 ... at least, I hope you do.

Music is subjective, some people like and dislike certain things, its like foods, we all have foods we like and dislike. Do I dislike Van Hagar? No. Do I think it's better than Van Halen? God no. I might be biased though. Certain music we just don't like, I hate AC/DC with a passion, and I love Pink Floyd. Some will be the other way about.

They each had their moments although I could do without that screechy thing David Lee Roth liked to do. Wouldn't turn the station when they came on but wasn't enough of a Van Halen fan to either buy their CDs or ever want to go to one of their concerts.

No question from a vocal point, Sammy is the better singer. I love Dave's voice more, but it's subjective. I'm not really saying that Dave was the better singer, I think I'm saying more that the songs WITH Dave were better. I don't really hear any songs with Hagar, decent enough music, but when compared to those first few albums which built the groundwork for US metal in the decade to follow? Nope.

Well, Sammy hasn't ever made googly eyes at me from the stage.....Dave has. It was fun. However, Sammy is by far the better talent. I love him..... Always have, always will.
