May the adjustment to work come easily. You'll do great around children. Farming is ruff right now. Sending a ton of positive vibes your way. Be well and remember to take care of you too.
As always Spideyman you are a positive in an ever growing negative world...

Thank you very much...

You sure you ain't originally from North Carolina?

Unbelievably I went and filled out insurance forms, direct deposit stuff and what felt like 45 other pieces of paper today. For the first time in my life, and it ain't that short of one, I will be working a "real" job come August 1.

Insurance has been eating us up and combined with the drop of farming income this has made things fun around the double wide.

Anyway was approached in middle of summer by local high school about a 7 hour a day custodial position, that is considered full time with benefits. Principal is going to let me do time in middle of day so I can farm in mornings and perhaps help with some coaching at school in afternoons (still hashing out that part).

So...what's it like to have a real boss?

Been married 32 years so basically been in servitude anyway for around 30...

Going to be an adjustment...
Hope the school is ready for it...

That's great, kidd!!! You will be a great addition to the school!!

Hello everyone, and happy (almost) Friday!

I have been in a terrible struggle for the past month with revisions for the second chapter of my dissertation. It's miserable; I just can't get myself to solidify the edits. Writing is fine, but the final edits for approval are a bear. The edits aren't even major, but I keep dragging my feet. So, I should have been editing today, but instead I did some volunteer work for most of the morning and then just did some fun reading, and now I'm here. Here's hoping tomorrow's a bit more productive and I can finish this chapter before Tuesday so I can enter the month of August with three complete chapters.

Are any folks planning to watch Friday's lunar eclipse? I won't be able to see it, but it does remind me I need to get out more and do some stargazing.

This is the first I heard about it.

I've been my own boss for to long to remember what having a real one is like. The ex thought he'd try to be the boss, and he no longer lives here. Guess I'm not the best person to ask.
I hope the job goes well.....truly hate that it's come to that. I'm glad to hear that they're willing to work it out so you can still farm and coach.

On another note, I felt like I was all over your place on the drive to and from the coast last week......kept looking for a truck load of Dr Pepper, but never found it.

Behind you
Looks like we are out of luck to see the eclipse in North and Central America.
And that unnamed place Canada too.

Sundrop you got to follow directions I gave earlier!!!

Glad to hear from you.

Afraid you got caught in one of those rip tides that have been all over the news...Figured would take more than little old Atlantic Ocean to tame you though...

One more thing about this job. I had to get a TB test done you know because of children and everything. Anyway my wife had to have one done when she went back to tutoring last year (she is way older than me, eight months almost to the day). So I asked her what it should look like if it came back positive. She told me and then said plain as day "Then you wouldn't get the job".

Let that sink in for a moment...

Not one mention of the fact that it would mean I had tuberculosis...

True story.

I thought I was following directions......found the micro remains of the roadkill turned right at the fork beside the old hollar tree......even went on down the road to King Richard, the 1st's place. They didn't have any Dr. Pepper, either.
Now, you KNOW it will take more than a little rip tide to carry me off......heck, it's probably bring me back in a hurry! ;;D

Your wife is being practical......she's not worried about you having TB.....and trust me, you'd know if you did.

OK Richard always has Dr Pepper. Kyle not so much...Never really like him. He thought he was a good basketball player back in the day. Thought wrong. (Man I am old ain't I?)

Girl you get that close again and might take you to Henry James for BBQ sandwich...

BF doesn't mind waiting in the truck does he?

We'll bring him out some hushpuppies and leave window down...:D

Don't know if I would know if I had TB or not...

Only experience with being sick involved a surprise middle of night HA...

That's what we calling it now. HA...

I may have lied about Richard and the Dr. Pepper just to see if you were paying attention...... Kyle was always kinda odd if ya ask me.

I'm driving that way tomorrow, and back on Monday.......it's my last weekend off for a while.

You cough up blood with TB......you'd know. My cousin caught it when he was in Haiti with the Army.......awful time he had.

That's not the kind of surprise one wants in the middle of the night.......

Sundrop I always look forward to you quoting one of my posts...

Having said that I am sorry about your cousin. You know by now, hopefully, that I am full of...well you know...but I am a real southern man at heart and would never make fun of something that hits close to home...

Now...last weekend off?

You have worn out I85 during the month of July alone...

That explains all the construction from Charlotte to Greensboro...:)
