Joyland was originally published in a large paperback edition by Hard Case Crimes and there was also a signed (by King) and numbered limited illustrated hardback edition published by them also. Then, Hard Case Crime recently decided to do a hardback illustrated version (it has numerous new illustrations done just for this edition) which is the one that signals2112 has. Hope this helps.
Thanks, kingricefan... I knew either Marsha, you or John would come to my rescue. :)

That's the way it was published. I don't particularly like it either. I think they call it deckle-edged. I did like the new illustrations, though.

In the laundry room of this apt. bldg. there are 4, 8 foot high bookcases and tenants put their books on it they no longer
want. Free to anyone who wants them. Well, I found a dandy. Looked at a WWII book, HC, at MacLeod's Used Books in
Vancouver that I wanted but it was $125.00 and not in good shape at all. Found it on the bookcases; like new condition
and signed by the author (I have NEVER had a signed book before). No dust jacket but considering the age of it (1944)
I am not surprised. Also found a 1st edition HC of Robert K Tanenbaum 'True Justice'. Like new and perfect DJ.
Yay for me :)

I got mine from Abe and yes it has the deckled edge paper. I am not a fan of that either, but otherwise it is a pristine and brand new looking copy so I am ok with it. My copy of Dolores Claiborne has the same type of pages. I am pretty sure that one is a first edition that I bought when it first hit the book stores.

A 1st/1st 'Salem's Lot Illustrated Edition (2005) somehow wound up on the shelf (a cart actually) of one of my local Friends of the Library stores ($5). A believe the first printing on this one was only 25,000. Hard to find. So glad to finally have this one. Doubleday did a really nice job on it. It's a very attractive, well-made book (much better than their 70's productions).

I found one of these online recently and bought it for $15 (the most I've ever paid for a used book). It came in the mail today. One bumped frayed corner, but when I opened the book it was in very good condition, maybe even unread. :)

Ohh, baby, wait till you read the 'deleted' scenes in the back of the book! Barlow wasn't even originally called 'Barlow' and I think we got a somewhat watered-down version in the published book (even tho he still is a scary vampire in the book).

Very nice! I have that same edition. I have actually never touched it since I got it. I don't really remember when I got that one, but it has been in a Brodart cover as long as I can remember and is pristine. Almost afraid to crack it open and finally read it at this point. But I took just a brief peak to double check that mine was a First Ed. lol
