My DRAWING OF THE THREE is like that--this last reading probably did it in. I've had it for so many years that my big kids get nostalgic about it--they all remember getting it off the shelf when they were little to terrify each other with the pictures (lol).

I bought a HB of Faithful at the thrift store for $1 yesterday--looks to have never been read. It wasn't a favorite, but I'll give it another go in a year or two.

Hiya! I just recently signed up for the Cemetery Dance newsletter-I'll check into Grant Books. Thanks! I keep checking thrift & used book stores ALL THE TIME! Sadly, I have very little money (*sob* says everyone! I try to help my mom as much as possible and lately the vet bills are through the roof!). One of these days though! I won't lose hope! Ebay is not the way to go for a signed copy-the sellers obviously know they possess a treasure! ;-D

I started the 'collecting' King back when he published The Talisman. I ordered it directly from Donald M. Grant (now known as Grant Books). I could only get the unsigned edition (which is what is now referred to as a 'gift' edition) but it was simply the most beautiful book I had ever seen at the time! It started me on the road to collecting beautiful editions (I blame Donald for my addiction!). For alot of years I wasn't able to afford anything but the unsigned 'gift' editions or the ones that were signed by the artist(s). I am now in a position to buy some of the ones that are signed by King. I'm not bragging, just letting you know that we all have to start somewhere. Take little 'steps', you'll get there eventually. You might try betts Books, too. David, the owner, specializes in King (and Terry Goodkind). Good luck, friend!

Thank God for the library, right? I check out WAY more books than I buy, and when I do buy 99.9% of the time the book is secondhand. Mr. Mercedes is the first new hardback (not for a child) I've purchased in a very long time--maybe years.

As for signatures, I look, but I'm not crying if I don't find one. The way I see it, every book is a love letter & the best love letters don't need a signature: you know who you're reading without a name :)

You speak true! Like King says- it is the tale, not he who tells it. I would be just as happy with unsigned trade editions of his works, too. Books are really the only thing that I splurge on in life. I'm not one that has to have a fancy car or live in a big house or travel the world. Mine is a small existence, non-descript, the only material thing I really treasure are my books. I don't look down upon those that cannot afford to buy books. I am happy that we just love to read! =D

Amen, brother! If I could grab just one material thing after a disaster, I'd want my copy of Different Seasons. It's like a part of the family :) Books are my passion, too.

The library has always been my salvation! If I remember correctly, you are a published author as well, and I would like to read your books. When you have time, would you PM me your book titles? Thank you so much! =D

Be VERY careful about buying signed copies from eBay unless they are official signed limiteds. There are tons of fakes out there.

As a lowly student my funds are limited in regards to buying signed or special editions unfortunately, however i have managed to keep up my King collection through purchasing Mr Mercedes as well as Doctor Sleep and 11/22/63. I do have a hardback copy of Rose Madder no idea if its a first edition or anything though.

I was in K-Mart in Georgetown today to buy a desk-lamp, and I also bought Firestarter. These are paperbacks with new covers, and I haven't read that book for a while and I think I can't find it; so I bought it. I hope it's got some stuff the King left out.

I was in a library last week, and I saw a book that I borrowed before but hadn't read fully-something about Stephen King's unpublished stuff. Edited by Rocky Hooper?

I went to Barnes and Noble today, and well, just couldn't help myself, so I bought It and 11/22/63. I think that's money well spent!

Just got a paperback 1st edition of Salem's Lot and 1st edition, first printing of Misery in paperback. If you have not seen it, you have to check it out! Stephen King is featured on the inside cover for Misery Returns Looking like a full fledged model on a romance novel book. it cracks me up every time I see it. I now own about five copies of that book, only in paperback!
