Hahaha
If you could afford to, would you buy it? I would. I'm not sure why, other than straight outta book-lust, but I would.
It ain't signed. So, unless the price of the book includes round-trip first-class airfare to Bangor, a limo ride to and from the airport to King's residence and a private meeting with The Man, who would then sign it, I would not buy this book. I don't ask for much, do I? ;;D

I know. You would think. But the thing that makes it so valuable is the printing flaw. It was pulled out of the production as soon as the error was noted so not very many of them got printed. There are only a handful of these left. I have to wonder how many of us have one put up somewhere and don't even know it. A copy of one of these could be at any local thrift store.

So far only three copies exist. Man, if I lived on the upper East Coast I would be hitting every freaking thrift store/used book store out there!!! It's been noted that most copies of the Lot were sold in the upper East Coast.

If I had $76,000 that's the way I'd spend it - touring that region and checking every thrift store along the way. :)

Was so depressed yesterday, then I remembered the library's used book sale started today. Yay - something to look forward to! Didn't find much, but the thrill is in the digging, I guess. Only saw ONE King book!! HC of Thinner without the dust jacket, and I already have three of those (also missing the dust jackets!). If I would've been looking for John Grisham books, I would've been in heaven. Or if I needed 65 copies of The Da Vinci Code! ;;D

I did find a cool pb collection of letters and poems by Poe and a true crime pb about the most notorious serial killers (I thought of Sigmund! :) ). Also bought hardcovers of an early printing of The World According to Garp, The Skin Collector by Jeffrey Deaver (one of the few novels of his I haven't read) and an early printing of Rising Sun by Michael Crichton that I'd never heard of before. So, better than nothing, but I'm always looking for a King treasure. Saw two paperbacks of Rage by other authors and my heart almost stopped both times! ;-D

"65 copies of the Davinci Code..." LOL, yep those books are at EVERY library sale.

...and left a beautiful corpse :) I used to like that show quite a bit. My favorite one was the older gentleman who had an original Navajo blanket, before they worked in colors (it was black and off-white). The value was in the millions; he broke into tears when he heard that, and I'd bet most of the audience cried right along with him (I know I got teary!).

Yeah, the "Chief's blanket" which someone had thrown over the back of a chair was the best of their "best of," probably the only one where the appraiser said, "This is a national treasure!" The other one who completely broke down was a man who had made a long drive, missing sleep, to bring an old picture frame in. He explained they were cleaning out some old place, he found what was obviously some kid's artwork, but the frame was nice, he saved it and never did get around to removing the picture. The picture turned out to be an early (1830s or so) sampler depicting the story of The Prodigal Son, on which the kid had embroidered her name, the date, and the teacher's name. The colors were bright, the condition perfect, the subject desirable, and the documentation almost unheard-of. When they told the guy what it was worth, he collapsed sobbing, "Thirty thousand dollars! I was gonna throw this away!"

Went in to a booksale today. Booksales are deadly. I just cant go into a book store without buying something . Got Elisabeth Georges Believe the Lie. I had really given up on her. She seems to have lost it. But I saw the price and decided to give her one more chance. Remembered the good ones she pulled off in the beginning of her career (a long time ago). But it was cheap so what the heck.........

I'm familiar with her books but haven't read any. Do you have any particular favorites to suggest?

Her first books are Her best in my opinion, with one exception. . A Great Deliverence, Well Schooled In Murder, A Suitable Vengeance and For The Sake Of Elena are good. Missing Joseph is ok too. Then i think it starts going downhill. I have read some of her Latest ones and they have been far from good so it is a fint hope i have in my new purchase
