Wow, that's a great deal for that Steinbeck. Is it in decent shape?
Yesterday the mailman delivered my 2nd hardback printing of Sweet Thursday by John Steinbeck (1954). It's in real nice condition also. Just a couple of tiny missing pieces to the dustjacket, the book itself is in great shape although it has a very slight musty smell. Got it for $12.50 plus shipping!

I go to the Wee Book Inn in Edmonton....several locations and two cats to a store. They are owners of the store and one cannot get a job there unless you are a cat person. The human owner died last year and his family is keeping all his principles about cats and book. If you are in Edmonton, give it a try. I found Duma Key there a week after it was out for seven dollars. Someone was kind and gave up their copy. True book lovers go there.... and pussycat people.

I'm there frequently, too. Mostly the downtown and west end locations.

It's in wonderful shape for a book that's almost 70 yeas old (pub. 1947)! =D The dustjacket is in fine shape with only a few tiny pieces missing and the spine isn't sun-faded. The book itself has some minor rubbing to the bottom and spine, but it is completely intact with no seperating to the pages, etc. and no musty smell! Great find!

Great score, man! That book is worth a heck of a lot more than $15.

Found a couple of nice items this past week on my used book store rounds.

The Horror Hall of Fame (1991), $3

1st/1st Silence of the Lambs, great condition (replacing my book of the month copy), $3. Lucky to find this one!

Graham Greene thriller (Bantham, 1955), $1.50. 3rd printing, but still.

Just came home with a Viking 2nd printing hardback of The Gunslinger (Revised and Expanded), a Plume Collector's Edition of The Shining, a brand new DVD of Tales From The Darkside which has King's Word Processor Of The Gods and a dvd of 'Locke' starring Tom Hardy!

Today the mailman delivered a true 1st Doubleday hardback printing of The Glass Inferno by Thomas N. Scortia & Frank M. Robinson. It was one of the two books that were the basis for the movie The Towering Inferno (the other book used was The Tower by Richard Martin Stern. I read both back in the day and feel that The Glass Inferno has way more 'heart' to it). I have wanted this book in my collection for years and years! I remember reading it in paperback when the movie came out and loving it! I'm going to do a re-read of it next! I also got a 1st hardback printing of In The Garden Of North American Martyrs by Tobias Wolff. I believe it's his first book. It's a collection of short stories. He wrote This Boys Life. Marvelous writer!!

Wish you were closer,I would help you get one. Iam a firm believer never to many book selves for king.
You are such a great friend! I am actually in the process of making one from a craft idea I had (after some research-others have had the same idea *sigh*). It might not get finished until the spring because of the horrible weather here, but if it turns out half decent I'll post pics. :)

Scored some more Johnny Mac PBO's. Murder for the Bride (1951, JDM's second book) is a first edition and really hard to find. $8 at a used book store. I have a friend who has been hunting JDM books at used book stores for 40 years and has never seen one on the shelf. Lucky beyond belief! The rest are early reprints, but are treasured additions to my collection.
